Character Ideation – You start by giving me instructions and resources to help me figure out what kind of character you want to build. In this step I will offer my thoughts and options to help you decide, or you can leave it to me.
Once we’ve decided on a concept, I’ll create 3+ more detailed sketches to try to figure out some of the details and the final look.

I will then create the final design based on the selected sketch. I will also give you a variety of colors that you can choose from and/or change.

If there are important aspects of the character that you want additional design work for, such as the face, hair, or weapons, you can also select additional design work. Typically there will be 3+ repetitions for each of these additional supports. The final design will go into the spreadsheet with the font as an image.
When the design is captured in the “refinement” phase, you can have additional feedback on small changes you want to make. Additional rounds of feedback after this stage or major changes at any stage of the process (what is considered a “major” change is at the contractor’s discretion) will incur an additional fee.

I reserve the right to post the final image on social media and in my portfolio. I can also link to social media posts on Twitter or Instagram if you want. If you prefer not to post a photo on a certain date, please let me know. I will generally post the design and animation on Twitch and will do so unless otherwise notified. Please allow 1-2 months for design completion, more if there is too much back and forth or if there are other fees at this time. Let me know if you have some kind of deadline – even if it’s a long one, that will give me more time to give you the attention it deserves. If you have a tight deadline, we may be able to work something out, although I may charge an additional rush fee.
I only accept payment through Paypal. Generally, I accept payment in advance, but if you feel the need, you can pay half in advance and half after the linear is completed. The work will start only after receiving the first salary.

I usually start with a blank digital canvas in Photoshop, turn on vertical symmetry, and let the fun begin. Each shape is placed on a new layer if I want to expand or update the idea. Below are some of my sketches using the vertical symmetry tool. Using symmetry speeds up my thinking process because I only paint one side and Photoshop “colors” the other.

The characters are unposed, but I’m not worried about the poses right now. Instead, I focus on shape and silhouette. Some of the considerations when I work on the design are:
The study of asymmetry does not exist as a form of movement in a package. It comes alive when you install it!
You don’t have to work on the actual silhouette you started with. Treat shapes like moldable clay and add/remove elements as you go. Play with size and shape. Change the strength of the head, body or legs to make the image more interesting and attractive.
