How To Design Children’s Book Cover
Cover of the book “Help! Ik Verveel Me” by Karin van Driel “Help! Ik Verveel Me” (translated from Dutch as “Help me! I’m bored”) is the story of an 11-year-old girl, Sara, and her parents’ crazy idea: a week without a phone. Without it, Sara doesn’t know what to do. But because she’s bored, she dreams of many things and It turns out that a little boredom is not so bad. The design was created by Charmaine Lam, which also appears in the interior of the book. Since these illustrations are made by a child, I kept the same style to respect the original vision of the illustrator and the author. I had to pay special attention to all the new elements added to the book cover. So I followed the same path and textures of the existing images. However, the colors were slightly intensified to draw the viewer’s attention. The choice of fonts also helped to give the whole design a certain “childish” style.
“Mysterious Fire” book cover and illustrations by Yesha Powell This is the end result of several projects to create all the graphic elements for the first book in the “Windsor of Mystery Series”, whose stories tell the adventures of a small group. Children in their hometown. The original characters were designed by Sharad Kumar and Manel Mendoza. I created the following characters that appear in this story using the same technique as the first ones (in Adobe Illustrator). The biggest challenge in designing the book cover, especially the illustrations, was to stay true to the original style and physiognomy of each character and to place them in different poses and situations. It was important for them to be alive, but still easily recognizable. Other elements of the book, such as the characters of each chapter, as well as the introduction of the series, were created according to the same graphic line of the logo that I created earlier.
Book Cover: The 12 Zodiac Races The book cover illustration titled “The 12 Zodiac Races” is a Chinese folk law story about a celestial race that took place at the beginning of time. The aim of the book is to introduce and bring Chinese culture closer to children. So a book cover should be fun and attractive to kids to pique their interest wrong!?. Well, say no more! 🙂 But hey, where’s the panda? He should sleep on the day of the race :p 🐼
Bruce M. Cover of “Inky, Pinky and the Unpleasant Tattoos True Story of Inky, Pinky and the Unpleasant Tattoos” by Firestone This is a children’s book that tells the story of Inky, a boy with a “special power”: he makes people happy by touching them. index finger. However, it has one drawback. Every time he touches someone, he leaves a small ink tattoo like an “i” in a circle. This is the first book in a series where a boy tries to learn how to make people happy without touching them because none of his friends want more ink tattoos. Until he meets Pinky. He’s always sad, so Inky tries his super power on him. And guess what? It doesn’t work on him. I illustrated this design based on the author’s examples and descriptions to perfectly fit the two main characters in the story. Bright colors were chosen not only to attract children’s attention, but also to create a cheerful and positive atmosphere.

A Christmas Cowboy eBook Cover and Illustration by Stuart Ward This is a Christmas book for children and families to read together during the holidays. The story takes place at the North Pole, the author requested a very colorful and wintry atmosphere with bright blue and sky tones, which managed to attract the attention of the audience. Since the book is intended not only for children, but also for adult members of their families, we decided to use a more realistic approach instead of a cartoon style. The three main characters – a giant horse, a cowboy and a little elf – are the focus of all the illustrations I created for this cover. This illustration was created entirely in Photoshop with several iterations until the desired result was achieved. The main challenge was to present these characters with all the details that were described in the text, and at the same time, they would be suitable for an audience of children. Bright colors helped a lot to achieve this goal.
A suggested child abuse book cover on a topic like this, a descriptive picture is certainly worth 1000 words. This image shows a child holding a hand, but it can be perceived in two ways; “Dad, stop it!” Or, in response to a title that probably refers to the Heavenly Father: “Son, you are risen.” The packaging definitely stands out from the crowd. This design is available raw if you’d like to see it adapted for your book. Save on competition fees; Write me a message and we will open 1:1!
