Corner Decoration Ideas For Living Room – Are you looking for inspiration to fill that empty, awkward corner in your home? I’ve got you covered! Today I will tell you how to decorate a corner of the living room… 10 different ways!
I’ve been designing interiors for a long time and there’s one place that always seems to be a challenge: the awkward corners of the living room! When empty, they can look barren and uncomfortable. If they are too crowded, they can make your entire house look messy. They’re not big enough to be a giant piece of furniture, but they’re often too big for a small decorative piece. Here are a few ideas I came up with to decorate the corner of the living room.
Corner Decoration Ideas For Living Room
A stylish floor lamp can be both practical and decorative. It is the perfect addition to an empty living room corner. A unique lamp can bring beauty to a corner and bring much-needed light to the room. I’ve always loved the Statement floor lamp next to the sofa, and a large curved arm can fill up an empty corner space nicely.

Creating a gallery wall or adding a large piece of framed art is a great way to fill an empty corner. It can add so much personality to your living room! Choose from a collection of your favorite artwork, family photos, or combine and create a collection that reflects your style. You can frame them in different sizes or colors, and don’t be afraid to combine frames. If you don’t like the look of a gallery wall, a large piece of art is another good option. Don’t be afraid to fill the majority of the wall with frames. Bigger is often better when it comes to poster art!
Turning a corner into a comfortable reading nook can be the perfect way to create a cozy atmosphere in your living room. Choose a comfortable chair, add a small table or console, and add a basket of blankets nearby. We added a reading nook like this to the living room corner of Little Lake House and our guests loved it. To do this, we used an egg-style outdoor chair from Walmart along with an air purifying table from IKEA. Some DIY pillows help complete the look, so this is a practical and comfortable combination! A cozy reading nook also doubles as a mini home office if you find a small desk that slides right up onto a chair. Isn’t that the best workspace?!
A picture border is a great way to add visual interest to an awkward corner in your living room. These shelves can be used to display artwork or you can use them to store books or small decorative items. I love the IKEA MOSSLANDA picture frames because they’re not as deep as regular corner shelves, so they’re ideal for small spaces. They can also be a practical solution. We used some stuff in the living room of my brother’s apartment to hide the thermostat behind the artwork!
Adding plants to your living room is a great way to bring nature inside and create a fresh and pleasant atmosphere. A tall plant in a decorative pot can be a great addition to a corner, or you can create a small indoor garden on a small table or stool. I always recommend growing live plants if you have the space and time for them. However, there are some beautiful artificial trees on the market, such as these artificial olive trees. Whether real or artificial, adding greenery to a space always makes it more attractive.
Cozy Corner In My Living Room
Adding an accent chair to the corner of the living room can provide additional seating, making the room more comfortable and adaptable. Choose a unique design that complements your existing space and adds a little texture and color to the corner. Don’t forget to measure your angle and choose the right size chair. Some corners can only fit an apartment-sized chair, while others can fit an oversized bed. I always love a good accent chair that really shows off your personality! Add a few fun pillows and your corner will come to life.
If you enjoy entertaining guests, a bar cart in the corner of your living room can be a functional and visually appealing addition. Show off your favorites, glassware and cocktail accessories and turn your cart into a stylish and inviting mini bar. Additionally, you can use a bar cart to create a mobile coffee station. I made it in our living room and it’s beautiful! Click here to see my coffee cart station.
Mirrors can be a great way to create the illusion of space in a small living room. A large mirror in a beautiful frame can be an attractive feature that adds depth, reflects light, and complements the rest of the decor. It’s a corner decorating idea that I’ve used several times when renovating rooms. You can never go wrong with adding a mirror to your space! I often use mirrors to decorate walls, and every home decoration style has a mirror.

A small corner fireplace can be a great addition to your living room. And for this living room corner idea, you don’t need a major renovation! On the market there are many beautiful electric fireplaces specifically designed for corners. We placed a small electric fireplace that looks like a vintage wood stove in the corner of the Tiny Lake House living room. It acts as a space heater and adds character to the room.
If you have children with lots of toys, or you just want more storage space, adding a cabinet to the corner of the room is a great solution. I’ve done this with a few different IKEA cabinets – PAX cabinets and HAVSTA cabinets. Both can lean directly against a corner wall and make the empty space much more useful. You can store anything inside such cabinets. Both have the option of installing bookshelves, and I think closed cabinets look much neater than open shelves for storage.
Whether you’re creating a gallery wall, a reading nook, or a storage space, I hope you enjoy these decorating ideas to make the most of your nook. With a little imagination and decorative items, you can add function, style and beauty to your living room!

7 Timeless Living Room Corner Decor Ideas To Elevate Your Space
Hello, I’m Christina Dennis, the creator behind The DIY Mommy. I’m interested in budget-friendly decorating and DIY ideas to make your space shine. Let’s create homes that bring us joy, one project at a time! 🌟Do you need awkward spaces in your living room? Whether it’s unused space, blank walls or empty living room corners, this is a common challenge in interior design. Today I will share 15 ways to fill empty space and make the living room beautifully designed and cozy. Let’s get started!
Before you start thinking about how to fill the space in your living room, let’s talk about your focal point. The focal point (in interior design) is the place that attracts the eye when you enter the room. For most people, the focal point of the living room is the fireplace or media console, often with art or a television above.
I like to identify a focal point when designing a room for two reasons. First, you may want to spend more of your budget on this area of the room because it receives the most attention. Second, you want to make sure that other elements in the room (like furniture or wall decorations) don’t compete with the focal point.
For example, let’s say your focal point is a fireplace with large pieces of art hanging above it. I wouldn’t use another large piece of art in the room because it would take away from the focal point.

This is a great trick that interior designers use! The way you hang curtains can make a low ceiling appear higher,
If you have low ceilings: Hang curtains high and wide to create the illusion of higher ceilings. I usually hang the curtain rod 2-4 inches from the ceiling (or crown molding if you have it) and at least 8 inches from each side
