Looking for a patriotic Cricut project for the Fourth of July? This eagle and american flag paper is sure to impress! There are three main types of vinyl in the crafting world: heat transfer (to fabric), permanent (signs, stainless steel, car wraps, etc.) and removal. Up until now, I’ve mostly done heat transfer and permanent vinyl projects. Now is the time to experiment with peel-off vinyl projects.

To be honest, I couldn’t think of many jobs at first. The main things I’ve seen done with removable vinyl are wallpaper. Now, if you’ve been following me, you’ll know that I’ve been doing wall art in my classroom, but I’ve been using permanent vinyl (I’m on a laptop, so that’s okay). I don’t have any wall art on the wall in my house – it’s definitely not part of the decor.

How And Why To Use Cricut® Stencil Vinyl

In fact, I don’t even have much release vinyl. I have quite a bit of permanent vinyl – in all different colors, but hardly any removable vinyl. While there are some permanent vinyl products out there, the most common type of removable vinyl is Oracle 631.

The process is the same as permanent vinyl – cut, glue, apply transfer tape and attach with Cricut. The only difference is that I can get rid of these if I want to change my mind. And that’s what removable vinyl is all about – you can peel it off when you no longer need or care about it.

One of the most popular projects with removable vinyl is wallpaper. I said I didn’t really like the tapestry, but I got excited about the tapestry. I’ve seen several “kitchen cheat sheets” that people put on glass cutting boards – the problem is that I don’t use glass cutting boards, and I don’t expect to have the board “on display” all the time. (my kitchen just isn’t big enough).

Another thing about those “cheat desks” is that they are usually imperial measurements, and I need both imperial and metric. I also noticed that many don’t include a butter scale, which I always use – mostly because when I bake with butter, I measure it.

However, I need to create my cheat sheet and put it somewhere I can easily access and look at when needed. That’s when I got the idea to put it on the closet door. I made it as big as possible so it’s easy to read if needed.

Since this unit has all the dimensions, removing and attaching was a no-brainer. I had to be careful with the weeding – I still missed two letters, but I cut them out and added them. I also used colons in the original text and those little dots disappeared so I ended up cutting out words to use them instead.

Attaching it to the basket is also a little tricky – the little pieces stick to the transfer tape, so you really have to go slow and help stamp some of the letters and numbers. I will say that the release vinyl is a bit more forgiving. Some of the small pieces of ice moved and I used my vegetation tools to get them back in place. When I got it all on the cabinet door, I burned it again with paper – just to make sure it was covered. I also like to do this as a finish with permanent vinyl. Looks like it helped.

Once I actually found a bug in the basket door. The good thing is that the vinyl is removable! I can remove the mistake, re-cut and reapply.

In our school, we get leased computers – that is, we get them for a few years and then they return, but then we get a new model. So since the laptop isn’t technically mine and I have to return it (but not for two years), I think this is one of those cool removable vinyl projects – I can customize the laptop – and your home. We all have the same Mac laptops, and although they are hidden and labeled differently, they all look the same.

I’ve seen several laptop cases, but I fell in love with this Snoopy because I love how it has a bright apple logo on the back.

A google search helped me find the painting job. All I have to do is grow it well and use it. It was really impossible to find a perfect fit – especially since the apple logo had to fit properly, so I ended up cutting the cutter into pieces to fit. To make sure it would fit, I just used masking tape to make the layout.

I like how it turned out. In my opinion, I have the best laptop. Plus I always knew who was mine.

When my colleagues saw my laptop, I suddenly had a lot of repair requests. Here are a few I’ve done. I especially like the ones with apple in them.

This is actually one of the first vinyl projects I’ve seen so I’ve been wanting to do this for a while. I like to use removable vinyl because I don’t want to permanently damage the vinyl. When I found the clipart online, I downloaded it twice – once for the black parts and once for the blue parts (removing the other color each time). Then I put the black on top of the blue and spread it. I also like how this turned out. You’ll notice that I used the same Cookie Monster on someone else’s laptop.

So the peel off vinyl projects have now opened up opportunities for me. Now I look everywhere and know I can decorate or personalize something without worrying about it being perfect. I can’t wait to share more ideas with you. This post and images may contain links to Amazon or other affiliates. Vinyl Scraps Sign With A Cricut

I remember looking at a new Cricut machine several years ago. She sat in her box and tried to open it for me, but I was afraid my attempts would fail and I wish I had asked for a different gift. I was already agonizing over what to say when my mom asked me how much I loved my Cricut machine, and to my shame I had to reveal that it was still hiding in her drawer.

I wish I had realized it was me
