If you’re looking for a simple and fun Valentine’s Day craft for kids, this Valentine’s Day wreath is definitely for you! Do it with your kids for a fun activity or do it for them as a surprise. The SVG crown I used from Hooray Paper on Etsy is linked here. This store has lots of crowns in different styles for you to cut that you can shape and decorate to make them your own, but the Cricut and Silhouette design libraries have similar designs, so you have plenty of options.
Crown Ideas Craft
I like to assemble my decorations first so that they are ready once the main item is assembled. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, I used a fun image with a heart and the words “xoxo.”
Bright Paper Crowns
You can use any image you want for a cute personalized touch or even add the baby’s names! Once your decoration is assembled, set it aside so you can attach the two pieces of ribbon by inserting the tab and adding a small amount of craft glue. For size reference, I cut both pieces 11.5 inches long. The SVG crown comes with small tabs so you can easily adjust the size.
Once you’ve determined the size of the flap you need, insert the small tab and add a small amount of craft glue so the flap doesn’t fall apart.
You might have extra paper, you can cut it or glue it. I glued mine with the pieces overlapping without a seam so you couldn’t tell there was any excess left. Finally, attach your decoration. I like to do this with 3D foam sticker, as you can reposition it as needed in case you want to change the placement of your decorations.

What better way to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday than to make this super easy crown, fit not only for a queen, but also for a king, prince or princess!
You should be able to get up to 10 crowns from these products, but it will depend on the size of the crowns and whether they are for children or adults!
This is a cost-effective craft idea – we estimate that material to make crowns to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday will cost around £14 (if you buy 1 of each of the products listed above, plus a value pack of wraps cotton wool… each wreath only costs around £1.40, plus they will be fully personalized and made to measure!)
Frozen Crown Craft
So let’s get started! First of all, remember if you are making this crown to always ask an adult for help if you need it!
First measure the size of your child’s head (or the person the crown is intended for!). Start from the forehead and measure all the way: add a few cm to the circumference to make sure it’s not too tight!
With this measurement, take your metallic paper, turn it horizontally and draw some zigzag shapes. You will need two crown sheets to fit your child’s head. At this point we taped the two sheets together, turned them so we were drawing on the white side, then cut out a triangle and used it as a template to make sure all the triangles are the same size :
When you get to this point, tie the two ends of the crown together using your child’s head measurements to make sure it’s about the right size. We used duct tape to hold them together and then stapled that too to make sure it was secure! Now you will have a basic crown shape that is just the right size…
Felt Princess Crowns
Your wreath is now ready to decorate! This is where you can have fun: Decorating the crown is entirely up to you. We chose a truly royal crown, but the possibilities are endless!
First we need to add the cotton ball or snow blanket to make our crown even more realistic! NB: Here you just need to use a cotton ball or one of our snow blankets – white felt strips would be just as effective! Or, for real luxury, why not use leopard print material! It is the Queen’s 90th birthday after all!
Using the same measurement as the main crown, note how long this strip needs to be and cut it accordingly. We don’t want the faux fur effect to be too big, so we chose a 5cm thick strip:
Once you are sure that the strip of cotton wool/felt/snow is the right size, you will need to glue it to the base of the wreath. Glue it all the way through so it’s secure.
Diy Origami Crown
This is hard work done! Now comes the real fun, the glitzy part! Take your favorite jewels and gemstones from our great value bag and glue them to the crown – attach them to the top of each triangle and you can even put sparkling pom poms below to make it more colorful.
If you have glitter lying around (you probably have, as it is a basic crafting material) you can add dots or shapes of glue to your wreath and sprinkle the glitter onto the glue. It will adhere well and you just have to shake off the extra glitter. You can also add sequins and anything else you like – it’s your crown, so make it as colorful and creative as you like. And that’s it… once it’s dry, your crown is ready for coronation and fit for a queen!

Print and cut the template, then place it on A4 card. Draw around the template with a pencil and then cut the paper into two pieces. If your child is older, they may be able to pull it and cut it out themselves.
Glue the two pieces together to make a long crown with a generous amount of Pritt Stick glue.
Kids Shamrock Paper Crown
Double check that it fits your child’s head once it’s glued together. You can always add more pieces. Choose which side your crown will face.
Have your child grab a paint brush and use PVA glue on the front of the wreath. Then have them sprinkle with glitter. You don’t need to let it dry for the next step as the glue will help hold the stickers.
Then ask your child to stick the glitter foam stickers on the face of the crown randomly or in a pattern, as your child prefers. These will be your jewel!
