One of the most important steps (and my favorite) is to create a vision board – this is very important because, like everything in life, you don’t want to go in blind. then you end up vulnerable.
I like to start with a vision board. So I can clearly see what colors I vibrate, what style speaks to me, etc. If you’re ever stuck and don’t know where you want to go, make a vision board. Even if you don’t think that the motivational images you use go together, eventually you will find that they do (99% of the time).
Everyone has their own style when creating vision boards. For me, I like to create my own on Pinterest. It’s the easiest way I’ve found and they usually have all the inspiration I need.
Quirky And Eccentric Ways To Stylize Home Décor
After I create my vision board on Pinterest, I copy and paste the photos into a Google Doc, print them, cut them out, glue them to the board and voila, the vision board is done. Also, creating a vision board is therapeutic and inspiring (dare I say I love them?).
As I mentioned before, there are many ways to create a vision board. For you, the best way is to cut pictures from magazines, use Instagram or throw back Tumblr (they have good pictures).
If you don’t want to go to the trouble of planting images, you can still create a vision board on Pinterest, just don’t print it! You can still get a good picture of the style you want.
Oh, this is very important. Of course, if you have a small space, stick to pastel colors!! I promise you’ll be able to get dark colors out of your mood when you get your big house, but bright colors can make your entire space feel 10 times bigger than it is. how is it.

Also, paint is not expensive!! It’s something you can do on the weekend to transform your space. Dark colors absorb all the light from the rooms, especially if they are small. Now, this doesn’t mean you can only use white, if you like blue, there are many beautiful blues that look amazing. Stick to your taste and when it comes to your walls and large pieces (furniture, pictures, etc.), try to be as simple as possible.
The rooms are very small and you don’t want to accidentally create a claustrophobic room – this is an amazing tip if you are on a budget, because really, I am telling you not to buy more than you need. Less is more. I repeat, a huge reduction.
Too much information can do more harm than good. Simple and small is great for an apartment and I promise you, it won’t stand out when it all comes together! You’re trying to put the game together, and the more complex each part is, the more you’ll be overwhelmed.
Curtains!! In fact, they get the job done. I like to add curtains to my space when I need a little spice and I’m feeling fancy. In fact, if you want to go together, add curtains. They make your site 10 times more expensive.

Thank god for conservation being accepted into the culture (just kidding haha, what a “trend” and it’s never stopped me before). Thrift is amazing because you can find one-of-a-kind pieces that will make your space completely unique. Also, the prices are, often, amazing.
If you’re making a lot of money, you’ll need to put on your creative hat, many of the pieces look amazing, but may require a quick DIY. But I promise, at the end of the day you’ll be so thankful you saved up!
If you don’t need it, don’t buy it. No ifs, ands, or buts. If you adhere to the requirements of the budget and extra time, you will collect the right pieces for your space.

In today’s world, we are constantly bombarded with new things and things to buy. We can feel so overwhelmed that the only way to release those feelings is to fill the space. However, it can make you feel even more claustrophobic. Like I said before, less is more!

Stay inspired with weekly home improvement updates, local favorites, and exclusive emails delivered to your inbox. My daughter left campus this year and lives in an apartment with other girls. (If you missed her dorm last year, check it out here .) I shared a few places with you in August, but I wanted to share the full tour, including their living room, which I have not yet sent. So let’s start the journey there!
The star of the show in this room is definitely the beautiful botanical wall art. I had a lot of pages left over from the book I used for my kitchen wall botanical gallery, so I cut some more. (My actual book varies greatly in price, but you can use any botanical book or search for free images to print online to achieve the same look.)
I picked up the gingham canvases from the summer collection at Hobby Lobby with great approval. It’s only a few bucks and I thought an artful set would look great and cost-effective in a girl’s apartment. (This old project I did years ago gave me the idea to put another frame on top.) While I won’t give you those canvases right now, you can get a similar look by wrap the fabric around a regular fabric or even a piece. Lumber cut to size. The design and color options are endless if you go that route! I bought plain black frames from Hobby Lobby for the prints (also a great set) and placed each text like a mat on a piece of poster board. A small drop of hot glue in each corner easily adheres the black frame to the canvas.
I originally ordered neutral curtains, but we all agreed that the room needed a little color, so this beautiful pinky-coral set was perfect. They sold out pretty quickly when I bought them, but I’m glad to see they’re back in stock! They are so cheap that I ordered another set after taking these photos
