Decor Ideas For Bathroom Shelf

Decor Ideas For Bathroom Shelf – My powder room is very small with not much storage. One of my favorite bathroom ideas for a small space was adding farmhouse bathroom shelves above the toilet to add more space for small items. Since we have such a small bathroom, it was difficult to make it look nice and also have the necessary accessories. So I decided to transform our very small bathroom into a beautiful and functional farmhouse. Check out this awesome bathroom idea before and after these farmhouse bathroom shelves for towels, candles, plants and more.

Before this photo, we were in the process of renovating an empty canvas bathroom into a modern farmhouse bathroom. These shelves we originally used were about $30 from Lowe’s and have held up well! Another great bathroom idea if you’re considering a farmhouse look is a NEW sink! This “Farmhouse” shiplap wallpaper is only $34 at Target, and we only needed 2. Saves a lot of money!

It took me 2 years to finally be happy with these farmhouse shelves, but they finally came to fruition. The perfect contrast between the blacks and whites, plus just enough brown to balance everything out and make it feel at home.

As you may have noticed from the previous photo, I replaced the shelves and added these farmhouse bathroom shelves from Ecys, and I love how they add warmth to a small space. If you love DIY, check out this blog post on how my husband and I remodeled our kitchen for under $300.

Anyway, I hope this farmhouse shelf idea gives you some inspiration to update your farmhouse bathroom with what you already have, or visit your local Marshalls / Home Goods for new inspiration 🙂

I have been trying to figure out the best decorating/storage solution for a powder room for years now. I wanted something that filled the room without being empty. Floating shelves were the best choice as they give a neat and clean look.

Styling Shelves {our New Home}

I found a local vendor, Modern Wood Crafts, that makes the most beautiful shelves. All the wood used was taken from barns, houses and other buildings from the late 1700s to the early 1900s. You can tell by the quality that each piece is so unique. This is not the cookie jar you bought at the pottery.

If you’ve ever looked at custom closets, they can be expensive. Modern wood crafts start at $30. They have different locations. I ordered the unfinished version for a more rustic and natural look. I built the shelves myself, but they put them everywhere! Use the code “NR10” for 10% off your order.

Maybe it’s just me, but bathrooms are really hard to decorate. You don’t want the decor to look like where you live. I looked at Pinterest for inspiration but found it to be basically a hodgepodge of ideas and not very helpful. Personally I don’t like anything too rustic, too modern, and beachy (no seashells here).

I found the best ideas by researching my favorite photographers on Instagram. I have eclectic taste in decor and usually draw from a variety of sources for inspiration. But really, no matter where you get your ideas from… stick to what you love and take some risks. You might be surprised at how much you like!

How To Decorate Bathroom Shelves

Honestly, I’m surprised this isn’t more specific advice, but just think about it. You mind your own business in the bathroom, looking at a picture from someone’s wedding or someone’s baby. Strange, isn’t it? Don’t take pictures of people. Choose something else.

The third rule is that objects arranged in odd numbers are said to be more aesthetically pleasing than groupings with even numbers. Three is the magic number, but I also like to use groups of five. Both groups are small/incomplete. Three makes your decor look like a collection.

Create volume by stacking pieces on top of each other. As you can see in the pictures, I made this with three candles and a batter bowl and an agate frame. If you put things on top of each other, it will add interest. Otherwise everything is on the same plane and looks a bit clean. You want your shelves to look like a collection of your favorite things, without being too busy and too perfect.

Another way to create dimension is to use objects of different heights. All the same height is boring and too monotonous.

Best Bathroom Decor For Small Spaces

Greenery adds life to any space, even if it’s messy! A lie might be better because you don’t have to remember to water it or give it sunlight.

Use bins and baskets to hide and organize inconspicuous items (toilet paper, tampons, whatever). Before you buy every basket you see, measure the depth of your shelves. You don’t want the basket to hit the front of the shelf. I made this mistake recently.

Regardless of the type of shelves you use, soften the area by adding a towel or other material. The towels in particular give off a spa-like vibe, which I definitely enjoy.

I like to have decorative pieces that are special and meaningful to me, so I don’t buy things if I don’t love them. I knew I wanted just enough decor to make the shelves feel full, but not overwhelming. There is a delicate balance. It can go from perfect to very fast.

Small Bathroom Ideas: Stylish Shelf Solutions

Top shelf: Black frame from Home Goods. I love Home Goods for frames because they are cheap and if I get tired of them after a few months, it’s not too bad to replace them. Inside is a black and white photo I took in San Diego. It makes me feel better every time I look at it. A fake plant is also from home goods. I love the gray and white vase.

Middle shelf: white hand towels from Ralph Lauren Homme. They are very soft and wash well. Next to the towels I placed a framed agate piece from Home Goods. They go through phases for months and then nothing seems to happen. If you see one you like, buy it! Also on the same shelf is a handmade clay bowl from Ecius, Home and Villa. Etzi is one of my favorite places to find wood pieces.

Bottom shelf: I couldn’t find candles that didn’t come in different sizes and cute containers, so I bought some scented ones from Target that seemed to come together. It’s definitely a game. A gray wire basket holds found household items and extra toilet paper.

Best Small Bathroom Ideas

I really need to get better.  In everything, my business, blog, family time, and my creativity.  I almost chose the word LOVE and I thought it was too easy.  I always do in some way.  Focus is the part I struggle with.  I can be a bit all over the place sometimes.  My goal is to stay focused on the actions and ideas at hand and not on the other side.  In the same sense, I want to use it when I’m with my family or when I’m meeting Ben, just be aware in that moment.

Every month I share with you guys.  For the month of January, I want to share a little space makeover.   I think this time of year tends to wind down and take away from the holiday season.   I think the smallest spaces in our house could use the most help right now.

Let’s start with one room in our house that gets tons of use, but that I rarely feature – our downstairs bathroom. It’s a smaller bathroom that I’m hoping to spruce up a bit by painting the floor tiles this year. Before I get into this project, I wanted to share my favorite recipe
