Colourful Diwali Decor Setup

Every Diwali I try to get the kids excited with all the decorations, lights and fireworks. Now they look forward to it every year. I’m sharing some ideas that you can use in your home, complete with Diwali decorations or in pieces that suit you.

Diwali is the festival of lights. The outdoor decorative lighting is my husband’s responsibility and it really gets everyone in the neighborhood going. The pictures don’t do the effort justice, but the overall effect of the lighting was fantastic.

He used professional installers for the ceiling lights, which cost about $500. He could handle the rest of the lighting himself, as it could safely be reached by an ordinary household staircase. It used programmable LED rope lights for lanes and roundabouts around the headlight. He decided to go with grid style LED lights for tree posts, house posts and large plantings. Continuous LED string lighting was used to create a pyramid around the lamp post.

On my last visit to India. These are some of the typical things I get from India every time I visit. Diya means a clay lamp used in the Indian subcontinent. These days, you can buy decorative beads from Indian stores in almost every major city in the United States. If you don’t have time to visit your local store, they are also available on Amazon.

After much research, I decided to use artificial flowers found on Amazon. I was pleased with the overall quality, feel and look of the flowers. I also used fresh flowers from my garden and local grocery store. The lights were purchased from Pier1 Imports.

You can make rangoli with two colors and flowers. Since I’ve had a baby, powder colors didn’t seem like a good idea. So I went with a simple design that can be made quickly in 10-15 minutes with a combination of natural and faux flowers.

Have you seen the rangoli before? Urli is a brass bowl for holding floating candles and flowers and adds a unique dimension to any festive or ethnic decor. With floating candles and flowers, it adds dynamism to your static decor.

After all, it is the first entrance that visitors to your home see. It creates a first impression and anticipation to see if there is anything else. Inside the house, you can add small decorations in various places to change the overall look and feel of your home and make it look more festive. For example, I enhanced the coffee table in my living room with candles and flowers.

You can easily see that I am a big fan of Pier1 Imports. Most of the items in this decor are from that store. Whether you’re looking at a table runner or tableware and candles, everything from Pier1 Imports is assembled over time. I continue to rotate them around the house to create new decorations using different combinations.

It has a good collection of runners and accessories. They are my weakness. So whenever I see a good designer piece, I buy it for future use. The proportions provide a defined space and a center of attraction that allows you to focus on a limited space. Runners add another texture to a room and help bring color contrast and enhance other decor elements. I also used kundan rangolis as filler in the center of the room to give it an ethnic touch.

Another example is the mantelpiece, which is the focal point of the living room in an American home. You can create a beautiful ethnic decoration by placing some pieces on the fireplace and the space in front of the fireplace.

Here I have used a combination of three independent elements to create diversity with the overall goal of representing India’s various ethnic elements. I used two beautifully decorated elephant heads along with nettipattam and bronze musical instrument artefacts. During my visit to Kerala, I fell in love with the beautiful Nettipattam elephant heads and couldn’t resist adding them to my collection. I love the authenticity it adds to any room it is used in.

5 Last-minute Diwali Home-decoration Ideas To Use In 2022

The last but the most important place to decorate your home on the occasion of Diwali is the pooja room and temple. Laxmi pooja is the most important part of the entire Diwali festival which is performed in the poja room of the temple. Due to the nature of my husband’s work, my family moves every few years. So although I would like to have a separate pooja room, I have to share it with the office at the moment.

So I use a Rajasthani handmade wooden temple with a matching backdrop. This backdrop uses tulle fabric embellished with peacock feathers, pearl bandhanwar and pearl strings. The end of the tulle was tied with brass elephant beads. This installation enhances the pooja angle.

The door to my pooja room which I share with my home office is also decorated with bandhanwar and flowers. Try adding little touches like satya stickers and maha-laxmi footprints. The swastika is associated with Ganesha, while the maha-Lakmi footprints are associated with the goddess of wealth and prosperity. These small details greatly increase the impact of your decor.
