I live in San Diego and have always been interested in the ocean, so almost every DIY notebook cover I make has a nautical and ocean theme.
Mermaids are huge right now, so I’m sure every girl would love to have one of these cute notebooks.

I find this works better for DIY notebook covers than tracing the entire cover in one piece.
Carefully place the vinyl backing onto the notebook cover, removing one section of backing at a time as you go.
Once the front cover is on, run a Cricut scraper tool or credit card over the surface to remove any air bubbles.
To add more color and cover the marbled vinyl lines, I added gold trim to each DIY notebook cover.

To do this, simply cut a piece of gold vinyl the length of your book and four squares wide.
Flip the vinyl over and you’ll see a grid on the back for easy cutting.
Now that we’ve finished the marble cover and gold trim, it’s time to add some mermaid details!
I designed each DIY notebook cover in Cricut Design Space. I am sharing the cut file for each notebook cover.
Washi Tape Notebook
Click the “Place IT” button, then follow the prompts to cut out the design with your Cricut machine.
It is a beautiful device with a sparkling crystal with gold accents. Cricut tools that come in the collection also have gold on them.
The Cricut Martha machine can cut over 100 different materials, from cardstock to vinyl to foil and leather.
Once you’ve cut out the individual cover designs, use your tool to peel off the excess vinyl.

Place transfer tape over the top of the fruit designs or anchors and use an eraser tool to tap over the top.
Now you have a beautiful watercolor marbled notebook! I have done four different books and plan to do more.
One of the kids in her class asked if the Cricut machine could cut real fishing hooks. 🙂

This is definitely my favorite part of having a planner/notebook! When it comes to decorating, the sky is the limit! It really depends on your imagination because there are so many things you can create! Since summer is here (well, if you live in the Midwest like me), I decided to go with a bright and pastel color to freshen things up for my new design!

I love journal cards so much! They add character and life to your landscape – at least in my opinion! And once they are destroyed, they are not destroyed and can be reused on other sites. You can leave them as just part of the decor or use them as a sticky note dashboard for easy access when you’re on the go!
You can find journal cards at any local craft store, Wal-Mart or Target. If not, you can make your own with cardstock! Download some cute fonts from dafont.com and write your own words or find cute pictures from Pinterest and print them out!
DIY paper crafts are very difficult and time consuming, but they are not! You can use cardboard, washi tape, ribbon, stamps and stickers (to name a few) – if you use paper or stickers and want to make it stiffer, laminate the design before you stick it on the paper.

I think DIY paper clips would add a nice touch to a planner/notebook! I mean come on, look how good it is!!
Using normal notes is boring .. but their glue is better than others and you can reuse them million times without losing a note. So, why not organize them and change it from boring to beautiful! And honestly, it’s easy. All you need is a stamp and/or a pair of scissors. You can go to town with it and do whatever your heart desires!
