I’m a bit of a book collector.  When I see a notebook with a cute or unique cover, I have to have it.

Notebook Cover Page Drawing Ideas

This design is one of many new Cricut Martha Stewart Premium Vinyl.  It can be removed for up to 2 years without leaving a residue, has a matte finish, is easy to remove weeds and can be used on all Cricut machines.

I live in San Diego and have always been obsessed with the ocean, so every DIY book I’ve made has a mermaid and ocean theme on the cover.

Mermaids are all the rage at the moment, so I’m sure every girl would love one of these cute books.

I will make another batch because I already have big plans.  They’re so easy and fun, so why not?

I found this to be much better for our DIY notebook cover than searching for an entire cover in one piece.

Carefully place the sticky backing of the vinyl on the notebook cover, peeling off the backing piece.

Once the front cover is in place, rub the surface with a Cricut scraper or credit card to remove any bubbles.

To add a little color and cover the marbled vinyl lines, I added a gold spine to each of my DIY notebook covers.

How To Decorate A Notebook

To do this, simply cut a piece of gold vinyl the length of your book and a square of width.

Turn the lid over and you’ll see there’s a grid on the back to make cutting easier.

Now that we’ve completed the marbled lid and gold spine, it’s time to add the mermaid details!

How To Make An Unicorn Book Cover

Click the green “DONE” button, then follow the instructions to cut out the designs using your Cricut machine.

It is a beautiful machine with bright mother of pearl and gold accents.  Even the Cricut tool in the kit is gold stamped.

Martha’s Cricut machine can cut over 100 different materials, from cardboard to vinyl to foil and even faux leather.

Once you’ve cut out the various cover designs, remove the excess vinyl using your cutting tool.

Press the transfer tape onto the top of one of the mermaid or anchor designs and use a squeegee to press.

Now you have a beautiful marine marble notebook!  I have done four different books and plan to do many more.

One of the boys in her class even asked if the Cricut machine could cut real fish hooks. 🙂
