At Stage 2, Design and Technology is about enabling children to use their creativity and imagination to design and create products that solve practical and practical problems, taking into account their needs and those of others. Making mistakes is a big part of design and technology and an essential part of learning. Children also need to develop skills and designs related to woodworking, how to move and more.
Exemplar Ks3 Projects: (this Content Is Only Available To Fablab Students)
In Phase 3, students will work with different materials such as wood, metal, paper and digital media using a 3D printer and vinyl planter cutter to develop a conceptual solution into a concept and product. Lessons are taught on a project basis, so students will approach it in a variety of ways and ultimately explain the concepts of our new curriculum.
Key Stage 4 students will follow the ‘Eduqas Three-Dimensional Design’ course. This course provides an opportunity to design and create models that make prototypes, functional products and best practices, objects and environments.
The assessment is Part 1: the portfolio section and is worth 60% of the overall GCSE grade. Part 2 is an externally set assignment where students respond to a starting point from a given topic and is worth 40% of the overall mark.
