Design Ideas For Bathrooms

Design Ideas For Bathrooms – I started myDesign Mistaseries many years ago. It started as a way to show my mistakes around my house, to help others learn the do’s and don’ts when it comes to home design. Well, it has quickly become my most popular series on the blog!

Today’s design flaw isn’t that big, but it’s incredibly common. Picture this, you’re finishing up a new bathroom and you need a toothbrush, soap dispenser, tissue box, and shower curtain! You go to the store and buy an entire matching set. Boom, you’re done.

Design Ideas For Bathrooms

This matching bathroom decor will do your new gorgeous bathroom no favors. Your small space will instantly look generic. This is very similar to a previous design mistake where I refused to use traditional bedrooms.

Remodeling A Master Bathroom? Consider These Layout Guidelines — Designed

If you want your home to feel sophisticated, well-designed, and put together, matching everything isn’t your best bet.

Now, you’re probably looking at your bathrooms and thinking, “Shit, Casey! I don’t want to buy new things for every bathroom in my house. That’s going to cost a lot of money to remodel.” I totally get it. The good news is there is a very easy fix.

Move a soap dispenser from here to there. Tray from this room to that room. You don’t have to remove anything and you can change each space to feel a little different. These quick updates can go a long way in improving the look of your bathrooms.

When styling a bathroom, I usually like to add a soap dispenser, toothbrush (if needed), a tray, and some sort of hidden storage for the vanity. These are my toilets.

Light & Bright Main Bathroom Design

I have a few tissue boxes around the house (These are my favorite quilts!), but I don’t necessarily style them in the bathroom.

Let’s take a look at all the bathrooms in my house and how I’ve styled them, things don’t match, instead they coordinate.

Our bathroom collection includes all functional decorative items. We have a double sink, but that doesn’t mean we have two of everything.

We have a soap dispenser in Finn’s sink. I went with this juice colored glass bottle for a more traditional style. These are some of my favorite soap dispensers because they fit almost any space.

Simple Bathroom Decorating Ideas On A Budget

In the middle I have this elegant black plate. I’m a big fan of trays in the bathroom because they’re a great way to keep small things organized and look neat. Here I have a fake plant, Finn’s colony, and a container for these q-tips.

This container is actually a candle, but it works great for q-tips too! It’s also a candy color, but it doesn’t quite match the soap dispenser because it has a ribbed texture.

And I have this black marble bowl that holds the cotton balls. These are good to have within easy reach and they look chic on the sink. So, once again, we want each part to complement each other instead of matching.

I love how the black and amber colors combine with the gold vanity and white marble tables. I then added a wicker pot to add some texture to the space.

In the children’s bathroom, the decor is a little more casual. In fact, I don’t even have a fancy soap dish!

Instead, I just use this plastic soap dispenser with their favorite soap. It’s lightweight and shatterproof, so it works well for a kid-friendly space.

To finish off the navy, I went with a navy toothbrush. Yes, it’s a kid’s space, but there’s no reason to go overboard with a theme or color scheme. The shower curtain here is white with some navy.

I also use a tray (similar to this one) in this space. This time she grabs a plant and a small jar for twine sticks. I really liked the black and white stripes on the jar and the small pattern on it.

In this space, I also use this wicker basket. I’m a stickler for woven bins, can you tell?

The basement bathroom is my most recent remodel and I had so much fun using new and old bathroom fixtures for this DIY project. I wanted the decor to match the moody interior and the space to feel luxurious.

No need for a toothbrush here, so I needed a tray, soap dispenser and other decorative elements.

In this small space I used black and gold metals. I went with this simple matte black towel along with my favorite Turkish towel. These are the best!

And I have a candle in this glass holder, this little matchbox, and a fake plant. All this goes well with the golden bathroom and golden candles.

Finally, our first floor bathroom. It’s tricky because we have no counter space, just a pedestal sink. Because of this, I installed this wall mounted soap dispenser. Our old soap bottle kept going down the sink and this is to prevent that from happening!

And I have this shelf above the toilet that I have thrift store decorations. I added a tray, a candle with matches and a plant. You can’t go wrong with potted plants in your bathroom!
