Looking through my folders, I find sketches that spark an idea or remind me of a mold that can achieve a similar effect. I rarely follow a card sketch exactly.
My method starts with a piece of paper – usually a 6″ x 6″ or 6″ x 8″ piece of paper.

First, I fold all the pages in order on the table. I put these two together because there are usually two of each design, with an alternate design on the back. Glue each side of the paper together.
This works great for some pads like eco parks. One side of the paper is busy and the other side finishes it off with a more subtle pattern.
I am a firm believer in not reinventing the wheel! Mat designers go to great lengths to make sure all patterns match, so let’s follow their instructions to make the card.
When using a mat like this, I use a subtle design on the bottom layer and a busy design on top.

Once they were all put together, I placed them back on the table and added some sparkle with the Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen and Nuvo Crystal Glaze. I prefer crystal glaze to glossy accents – it works for me!
I try to use the sentiments provided in the ephemera pack, but these don’t always fit your design or what you want to say.
