I have used them to highlight winning character traits, highlight academic and professional groups, and convey a positive message to students who come into my office.
I asked my email subscribers and Facebook followers to share their favorite billboards and today I want to share them with you.
This bulletin board has been one of my favorites for a long time. It was behind me when I taught classes during these distance learning days that started in 2020. I used black fabric for the background, which helped minimize the fading that one often gets with butcher paper.

Lowanda, a 7th grade school counselor, shared this bulletin board. She said: “I used students’ exit tickets as notice boards. I completed a lesson with my 7th graders after a week of Socratic Circle (M-Th) lessons with their English teacher. It was very difficult for me to sit and observe them without disturbing them. I took it all and incorporated it into my lesson on bullying. I wanted to talk to students about how serious their actions are for others.
“At the end of my lessons, I always ask a question or give them a topic to write a short message about. After discussing bullying and how it can lead to devastating results, I asked them, “How do you want to remember this?” »…this is the result of this lesson.
“For this bulletin board, I used colored notepad sheets cut in half. I wanted my message and my painting to be bright, colorful, full of happy thoughts and to live up to it. Students write their names only on the back of the papers. I linked them together to create this bulletin board.
“It’s not some sort of start-of-the-year bulletin board. This is after you get to know your students and how they behave. This really affected me and I noticed a complete change in their behavior for the rest of the year.
