Design Ideas For Paper Mache – Paper mache is a fun craft that I love to do. I am so happy that my daughter has been looking forward to doing this craft for a while now. This modern papier mache bowl was a great family adventure. I just wanted to mention that we were ready to start crafting and the balloons were already inflated within seconds.

Design Ideas For Paper Mache
This is a mommy and me DIY and I’m so excited to share it because it was so much fun to make. My daughter and I both had a great time painting these fun modern paper mache bowls.

First, prepare the newspaper by tearing it into strips. Then fill the balloons in three different shapes and apply newspaper to the balloons using Mod Podge. Leave to dry overnight. Make sure to apply at least 3-4 layers of newspaper tape so the bowls can hold some weight and are fairly thick.
After the outside paint is completely dry, paint the inside of the pots and let them dry completely.
The next step is where we let our creativity flow completely. We chose scrapbook paper with flowers and fun glittery circles.
Cut the scrapbook paper into different shapes and plan how to place the pieces of scrapbook paper on top of the bowl.

Apply the scrapbook paper design to the inside of the bowl and cover the entire surface of the bowl with Mod Podge to create a surface seal.
We also decided to do one last coat of Mod Podge to create the seal as they will be used in my daughter’s playroom. This extra layer of Mod Podge will allow you to continue strengthening the bowl.
I think they turned out really well and I’m sure they will help a lot with organization in my daughter’s playroom.
My daughter had so much fun working on this project and I was so proud that she finally had to wait to decorate and use her bowls in her playroom.

Embellish with a black vinyl design with your Cricut cutting machine. These paper mache bowls can be used for so many different things and make a sweet gift for that special someone.
Hello crafty friends! Today I’m sharing a tutorial for making these fun, brightly colored mason jars using tissue paper mash. They are easy to make and can be used for many different things. Use it as a vase on your desk, a pencil holder, or fill it with candy and give it to someone special!
My daughter made these two jars as gifts this Mother’s Day. After covering them with tissue paper, we decided to add a black vinyl design to the front of the jar using my Cricut. We chose designs with thin outlines so that the colored tissue paper would show through.

We use colored tissue paper that is cut into small squares, but you can choose to cut the tissue into any shape you like. Below is a tutorial with a link to my design space file to use the same rose and heart designs we used.
Step 1: Cut the tissue paper into small pieces. We organized our cut out pieces in a small art board I had. An old muffin tin will work too, or you can arrange them on a paper plate. We cut our tissue paper into squares, but you can cut it into smaller sizes of your choice!
Step Two: Make a papier mache paste. In a paper cup, mix 1 part white school glue with 2 parts water.

Step Three: Paper Fish Jars. Use a paintbrush to cover part of the jar with butterfly paste, then apply small pieces of tissue paper one at a time. Once your shape is in place, you can glue it down with a little more glue. I showed my daughter how to carefully go over the tissue paper with the brush so that she didn’t tear the paper or tear the pieces.
Continue adding shapes until the entire jar is covered. You can overlap the pieces creating fun new colors. Once the jar is covered, apply another layer of glue to seal everything.
Step Four: Add the vinyl design to the front of the jar. This step is optional, but a lot of fun! We chose heart and flower outline designs in Cricut Design Space and I cut them out of black vinyl with my Cricut Explore. Here is a link to my design spec file with the two designs we chose.
Use transfer tape to apply the design to the front of the jar. I used an old piece of transfer tape that was used in another project. It was perfect because it wasn’t sticky like a new piece. If you are using a brand new piece of tape, I recommend taping the surface a few times to make it less sticky. If it is too sticky, it can peel off the tissue paper.
How To Make Vase
Apply the design carefully. You have to be careful that your transfer tape doesn’t peel off some of the tissue paper. If the pieces are sealed with glue, it should stay in place, but just press on the design area and carefully remove the tape as soon as possible.
Step Five: Cover the top of the jar with ribbon. Since we weren’t using the jars with their lids, I wrapped the tops of the jars in ribbon using hot glue.
The jar is gone! I love how colorful these pots are. my daughter
