I love a good tile and tile tutorial, and this clay tile tutorial builds (or introduces!) a lot of crafting skills. I am currently teaching this to my Sculpture II students, but it can be taught to students with very limited clay experience. It takes up very little space (and mud!), which is useful if you have huge classrooms or limited storage space. Tomorrow is October, which means everything falls! This is a simple wet-on-wet acrylics tutorial with just three colors of paint. Advanced Placement art students, a group of 11th and 12th graders seeking AP portfolios, began the year with observational drawing. We focused on outlining with hands, faces and various still lifes as the students reflected on their questions. My Art II students (a mix of 10th and 12th graders) are creating line drawings using their hands as inspiration. After many timed contouring exercises, students began creating compositions with their favorite gestures. I can’t believe we made it back to class long enough to finish these watercolor zentangles. I have to go back to school to meet the students when the schedules change. We used them as a sketchbook cover, but they would make a great lesson too! Summer is melting and I’m trying to enjoy every moment. This is a super easy pencil and watercolor doodle using @blickartmaterials liquid watercolors. Add line work with the @sakuramicron pencils when the paint is dry or keep it simple. It makes a satisfying scrapbook page, holiday ornament, or handmade birthday card.

Colored Pencil Art: Colored Pencil Instruction And Techniques — Art Is Fun
Although crayons were once reserved mainly for children, over the years they have steadily gained respect among artists, galleries and collectors. Artists are exploring the creative potential of this artistic medium, and art collectors and enthusiasts are in awe of its output.
You probably used colored pencils as a child, so you’re already familiar with them. But there’s a big difference between artist-quality crayons and the crayons that kids normally use. Professional artist quality crayons contain higher levels of wax and pigment than children’s crayons. These pencils allow for really rich, deep, luminescent color. Finished drawings can be so smooth and pigmented that they look like paintings.

Quality artist colored pencils are usually light or lightfast. They are not as lightfast as, for example, oil paints, and their lightfastness varies by brand. They can also fine tune the nib to allow for fine details.
