This guide will explain exactly what the Cricut Design Space is, how much it costs, how beginners can get started with it, and how experienced artists can raise their creative game. The Best Tablet For Cricut Design Space

Drafting is software designed specifically to turn your ideas into real projects. It’s basically the middle ground between your brain and your Cricut machine. Finally, if you want your Cricut machine to cut out the bear sticker, you add the bear graphic to Design Space. When your computer is connected to the device, it’s exactly what you see on the screen.

Cricut Design Draw currently works on computers, tablets, and smartphones, but it works best on desktop. You must have a computer to connect to your device during the initial setup phase, but once your device is set up, you can use the app if you prefer. Learn how to set up your new Cricut machine here.

Design drawing can now be used offline while working on your computer, and online on your hard drive. You can design the app on both Windows and Mac operating systems, and the mobile apps work on both iOS (Apple) and Android devices.

Design Space is completely free to install on all your devices and there is no limit to how many devices you have in the program. When you get a new Cricut machine, there is a card in the box with instructions to find and draw Space for your computer, or you can follow this link to get the version you need.

Cricut Basics: How To Upload Images To Design Space

Once you’ve installed Design Space and your device is connected, you can dig into the Design Space program and learn how it works. Included in Design Drawing are tons of pre-designed fonts, images and projects to use at no cost. You will also see some fonts and images of the letter A in the green sign. These are premium bonus content available to Access members.

Cricut Access is a subscription that will open up more fonts, images and pre-designed designs for you to open. It’s not a necessity, but if you use your Cricut machine often, you’ll find that you quickly outgrow the basic supply and want a larger supply. That’s where Access comes in.

In addition to hundreds of additional sources and thousands of new projects, you will also get exclusive discounts on materials, tools, content licenses and even devices. It’s like a VIP club, and anyone can join.

There are currently two subscription options for Cricut Access: Standard or Premium. Standard access is $9.99 per month or $95.88 per year with automatic renewal. Premium Access is $119.88 per year with automatic renewal. The Great Access plan offers additional discounts on materials and free shipping.

How To Use Fill Patterns In Cricut Design Space

If you frequently shop for Cricut supplies online, the extra $25 is worth the upgrade to the Magnum in my opinion.

Remember the day you were in school and your teacher had a free hour on the computer and always opened “Paint” to make digital art? The design space is exactly what it is, unless it is matched with the engine section to turn your plans into a tangible reality.

When you open Design Space, you’re greeted with a home screen of project ideas, recently uploaded photos, and Cricut community favorites of the moment. You can choose a predefined project to customize, or you can create a new project from scratch by clicking the green New Project button in the upper right corner.

The area where you create your designs is called the Canvas. In the left toolbar, you’ll find all the elements you need to create a professional-quality project. To add something to the workspace, click on the category you are looking for. For example, when you click Text, a generic text box appears. When you download images, you are transferred to a fully searchable image library.

The top toolbar is where you can add custom items to the Canvas. You can adjust fonts, sizes, colors and spacing, as well as adjust images and add features to turn them into printed stickers. The right tool shows every layer in your project (scales are added to each element) and allows you to organize and manage layers.

When you’ve created the design you want and are ready for the machine to cut it out, click the “Make It” button and follow the in-app instructions to set up your material. The layout design configures your clips into a layout that saves as much material and time as possible, so you may find that your design looks slightly different in the clip preview than it does on the Canvas. Materials can be purchased quite expensive, so this line is really useful.

“I saw a blogger project with some source, but I can’t find it in Design Space.”

The answer to this can be twofold. First, open the drop-down menu in the source bar and check the “Only Kerned Basins” box. By default, the Design Layout only shows the selected fonts, so you’ll see it by ticking the box

Still can’t find it? Blogger may have a different computer account than you. The source can be a Windows or iOS system source, and if you have a different operating system, it will not be available to you.

“Is there a way to save my favorite sources so I don’t have to search for them all the time?”

Yes! The latest update added a feature to save fonts. Any of your font lists is added to its own tab at the top of the font menu, so you don’t have to search, book, or remember font names before you get started.

“Some sources have a price next to them. Is this a one-time price or can I use it any time after purchase?”

If you are not an Access Cricut member, you can purchase individual fonts and images for projects. The prices you see in the font menu are one-time prices, meaning if you buy a font for $4.99, you can use it again and again in the future.

As an Access member, you have over 700 resources available for use. However, some sources are licensed and must be purchased individually. Licensed fonts (and images) mean that they are owned by another company (like Disney, for example) and that company gives Cricut users the right to use them. Since these goods are not licensed to Cricut, you must pay for their use. Check out the Cricut Shop for licensed files if you do a lot of projects using these types of content.

The source menu is fully searchable and you can use the filters to find the sources you need for your specific project. In order for the font to be used with a Cricut pen and printer, filter the font menu to “clip”. Note that the Bulgarian fonts will not be filled in with a pen, you will only have an outline and you will have to color it yourself if you want it to be filled.

1. Experiment with the Design Space software before entering the first project. This program takes some getting used to, so spend an afternoon just clicking buttons and see what happens. The more features you can play with, the more confident you’ll be when you’re ready to create something for real.

2. Add a free Cricut workshop. Cricut recently launched an expansion to their website called Cricut Learn. The tutorials cover almost everything you want to know, except for an introduction to Design Space. There are also workshops with live Cricut experts if you prefer to go through the process with someone in real time. These workshops are also really fun!

3. Start with simple decal projects before jumping into full custom designs. I know, you want to do complicated projects… That’s why you bought a machine, right? But before you start using multi-layered designs and small, narrow fonts, get comfortable with basic one-layer silhouette images (like a shadow image) and simple fonts like Cricut Sans. These will make it easier for you without having to pile up a lot.

1. Try advanced features like offsets, font kerning, disc image and glue to create truly customized projects. My recommendation is to sit on a rainy day without any plans
