Garlands, or bunting, are ideal to make for all kinds of occasions. This newspaper heart garland is perfect for Valentine’s Day or to spruce up a girl’s room. Make a miniature version and use it on cards or paper/gifts or wrapped gifts!

How To Make Paper Wisteria

Decide the width of your little “flags”. I used a certain column size in our newsletter and cheated on cutting it without measuring the same width each time. You can measure it if you want, mine was about 70mm x 140mm, more or less. I cut a total of 9, but you can decide how many flags you want, more will obviously give you a longer garland.

Each newspaper strip was folded in half, horizontally and then vertically. On the folded side, I cut out half a heart and a triangle shape as shown below. The first scraps were used as templates for the rest to fit together.

If you want to save time with the cutting part, an alternative way to make these cutouts is to use a paper punch. A medium sized heart punch and the corner of a large square punch can work.

The flags were then attached to the string leaving a 30mm gap between each. All it takes is a little glue.
