Geometric Painted Pots Easy Diy Idea
Geometric patterns are everywhere this spring and I’m obsessed. I’ve been pinning geometric inspiration all over the place. Did you see the paper dinosaur dinosaur I made for my son’s birthday? See, I told you I was obsessed! My favorite geometric patterns are asymmetrical ones like this one. And this too. I wanted to make my own geometric creation for spring and I’m going to show you how you can make your own geometric planter!
This DIY geometric tub looks modern and intricate but is very easy for a beginner painter to make. You can create your own geometric flower pot in the afternoon or evening and customize your own color scheme to light up your spring.
I don’t know about you, but I’m more than ready to kiss the cold goodbye. It’s been a brutal winter season here in Chicago – brutal with a capital B. This DIY painted geometric planter is just the thing to help me forget how many times I’ve shoveled snow this season. Hello spring!

Gather your supplies. Clean your planter or flower pot with an alcohol wipe and let it dry.
Place a strip of masking tape on the self-healing cutting mat and cut a 1/8″ craft knife and a metal ruler. Tape from corner to corner, pressing down firmly to prevent paint from seeping under the tape. I chose a triangular shape for this planter but you can use any shape you like.
The asymmetry means you can skip measuring and planning it; Just start making triangles and keep going. I really like how the greenhouse looks even with the tape!
Next, paint triangles on the flowerpot in two light layers. Be sure to use craft paint on multiple surfaces for best results.

I used three coats of gold metallic paint on my geometric plant pots. I think it adds the right shine to the pot.
Now I have said that it is best to try to remove the strips from the flowerpot when the paint is still dry. I have to paint very slowly because my paint is almost always dry before I can loosen it up.
I learned the hard way the last time I painted ceramic to score the blue paint strips before peeling it back. Just run a craft knife slowly to the side of the painter’s table and then gently pull it up. Go slow here and you’ll avoid contact.
The last step! Follow your paint instructions to cure the paint on your planter or terracotta flower pot. My multi-surface paint company said it would air cure in 21 days or bake in the oven for 30 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

You can also paint large terracotta plants or planters outdoors using outdoor paint. Tell me: What would you do with painted geometric shapes?

Gorgeous pattern and color selection! I’ve just made a small geometric succulent pot and I’m not happy with the clay shade…I might just have to give the colors a try! Thank you so much for sharing – so inspiring as usual; D Have a nice weekend PS Pinned x4! LOL One of my favorite art making groups asked me to paint a huge giant geometric cube mural in their office space in their marketing area! DUH! I was INNNNNNNNNNN!

Just give me some colorful paint and ideas in my brain on how to make the cube huge and repeatable on the wall and I’m off to the races!
The wall is the first thing you see when you enter the space (gasp…..what an honor!) I hope people walk in and are immediately excited and inspired to chat with the talented ladies and gentlemen who work in the space!
I can say that my favorite part of painting a mural is choosing the colors (this is not new information if you know me a bit)! I love standing in paint oil and choosing colors and seeing how each paint test reacts (or makes me react) to the combo! And the wall was no different… although there was a moment in the painting process where I was a bit skeptical about the colors… but it all came together in the end!
Here is a list of the paint colors I used (I LOOOOVE Behr Marquee paint, so these are all from Home Depot)!

The first thing I did was make a template of the cube (kind of like a tessellation so they could fit “next to” and “inside” each other)…. Yay math! 🙂
I measured the wall width in terms (to determine the center and then break the cubes evenly on the wall). Each cube was 36 1/2 inches wide and high. I then cut the cube in half to mark half way at the top and bottom….then cut it into quarters at the top and bottom. I connected the corner lines to the left and right from the 1/4 guide marks and finally poked a hole in the center….. AAAAAAAAAAAAA: My cube pattern! 🙂
From the center of the wall (height and width) I marked the center and started tracing the pattern with a straightedge and pencil to mark the cubes.
I don’t usually use pencil (chalk is usually the way to go) but I needed the lines to be crisp and thin for the cube to repeat correctly 🙂

I just love how the wall came together and every time I took a bit of tape off the wall the excitement grew for the amazing colors and mat and cubes and all that! 🙂 I hope you love it as much as I do 🙂 By Pamela October 9, 2024 April 5, 2018 Leave a Comment on Eye-catching, Fascinating and Funky Geometric Wall Decor
Geometric wall art, an artistic expression that effortlessly bridges the realm of visual aesthetics with mathematical precision, has quickly become a sought-after element in modern interior spaces. Characterized by bold shapes and clean lines, this art form embodies a unique blend of simplicity and complexity, making it a versatile element in the field of interior design.
The essence of geometric wall art lies in its ability to fill a space with a sense of order and balance. Using basic geometric shapes such as circles, squares, triangles and rectangles, these artworks create a visual harmony that resonates with man’s love of symmetry and structure. The interplay of these shapes can range from minimalist compositions to intricate patterns, offering endless possibilities for customization and creative expression.
One of the main appeals of geometric wall art is its versatility to complement different interior styles. Whether it’s modern minimalism or a more eclectic space, geometric art can adapt and enhance an existing interior. In modern interiors, for example, a large geometric canvas can serve as a statement piece, drawing the eye and anchoring the room’s aesthetic. In more traditional or eclectic spaces, smaller geometric prints can add a modern edge without overpowering existing design elements.

The use of colors in geometric wall art further enhances its appeal. Monochromatic schemes can create a sophisticated and understated look, while bold and vibrant colors can transform a room into a dynamic and energetic environment. This flexibility allows geometric art to not only enhance the color scheme of a space, but also become a focal point that energizes and enlivens the space.
Another aspect that makes geometric wall art particularly attractive is its ability to evoke a feeling of movement and depth. Through the strategic arrangement of shapes and lines, these artworks can create the illusion of three-dimensionality and movement, adding a dynamic quality to static walls. This effect can make a room feel more spacious and alive, a desirable result in any interior design endeavor.
Geometric wall art is also in line with the growing trend of personal spaces. With the rise of DIY culture and
