Home Office And Bedroom Ideas – In this post, I’ll be sharing our new home office room combo. The room is perfect for two work areas as well as a sofa bed for guests.
Recently, we welcomed another little love into our family. To accommodate another nursery, we had to do some rearranging of the bedroom layout. We have a four bedroom house; main room, my largest room, home office and guest room.

, ) was too small for both of us, so we decided to use the space as a nursery and the guest room as a new office.
The only problem is we still need a guest room and maybe a workout space. So at this point we felt like we were running out of cameras.
We only had one bedroom left to accommodate everything. Here are some of the things we considered when designing our space. You might also think of these;

The first thing to consider is how often you will have guests. Do you have guests staying at your home several times a month? In this case, you may want a separate bedroom just for guests.
In our case, we occasionally receive guests. Maybe a few times a year if we go out of town and have someone at home. Because of this, we were reluctant to eliminate guest space entirely.
We found that rather than dedicating an entire bedroom to guests, we could create one room that serves multiple purposes.

We have now established that guest rooms work best when they serve multiple purposes. We had to figure out how to combine a home office with a guest room.
If you have a large enough space, you might be able to accommodate a full bedroom and a nice office. Our space is too small to accommodate both functions at any given time.
We think the best option is to use a sofa bed. This gave us a nice table, lots of floor space, and a couch to relax on. When we occasionally have guests over, we can pull a queen bed out of the couch and still have plenty of room to move around.
We chose the Godwin 69-Inch Square Arm Sleeper Bed because of its modern look and compact size. The sofa itself is very comfortable. Our guests had no complaints about the comfort of the beds. I added a nice mattress for added comfort.

Once we decided on the room mix for the office, we needed to figure out how to integrate them into an office.
There are a few different ways to set up a desk for two people; an L-shaped desk, a single extra-long desk with two workstations attached, two separate desks on opposite walls, or two separate desks facing each other.
Since our space needed to accommodate a sofa bed that needed clearance to pull out, we decided on an L-shaped table.

This allows each of us to have our own personal workspace. Since the table is positioned around the perimeter of the room, there’s enough room to pull out the sofa bed.

I mentioned earlier in this post that not only did we need a home office for two and a space for occasional guests, we also needed an exercise space.

Because of our layout we were able to fit an oval in the corner. Because we use a sofa bed instead of a traditional bed, we have plenty of room to work out.
I’m very happy with how this space turned out. We were able to take the fourth bedroom and really maximize its use. It is now a multifunctional space that has been carefully laid out to accommodate all the functions we could wish for.
