How To Decorate Above Your Sofa – I’ve mentioned this before, but our living room in our first house was in bad shape. It is almost octagonal, but not quite, as it has only seven walls and opens to our door and our dining-room. It has a corner fireplace, which is old and beautiful, but tricky for furniture arrangement. The living room has two very long walls facing the fireplace, one of which we have a big bed (90″ big because my husband insisted and I gave it up for a god forsaken reason). Although I’m a fan of floating furniture, for a certain room, placing the sofa against the wall makes sense and helps create a nice sitting area facing the fireplace. We chose the largest seats for comfort and seating and to fill the wall (because my husband convinced me), but that means there’s a lot — and I mean a lot — of open wall space above the seats we need to fill. . We tried so many different options, from a mirror that didn’t quite work to a painting we had, and struggled to find the right answer for what to hang on the wall above your sofa.
I know I cannot be alone in this predicament. It looks effortless in well-designed spaces, but unless you already have an amazing art collection, finding the right pieces can be tricky. This large floating shelf and sign collection from Angela’s Luxury Home on Instagram is perfect. I love that it’s a large shelf instead of a few small shelves like you usually see. A long closet gives plenty of room for decor—and how fun it is to change it with the seasons.
This old chalkboard and a pair of hanging lamps made me cringe a little. I mean, it’s the perfect farmhouse look. Liz Marie’s blog is always full of inspiration, but unless you’ve been living under a rock you already know that.
