A PowerPoint presentation is a powerful tool for conveying information to your audience. It is often used during lectures and business meetings because it provides visual messages. A beginner’s guide to how to create a PowerPoint presentation from scratch.
How To Prepare Powerpoint Slides
When you open PowerPoint, you can create a blank presentation or use a pre-made template. Using an existing template is much easier and saves time, but a blank presentation gives you more flexibility to customize your look or develop your brand.

Before making a presentation, you should check the template or format requirements of the assignment you are working on, especially for business projects. Many companies create their own branding templates to ensure consistency.
After you create your presentation, you add slides using the “New Slide” button in the “Home” area or by right-clicking on the navigation bar. It offers different slide structures for titles, content and images, which helps you save a lot of time creating your own slide structures.
Slides can be formatted using the functions on the Design tab. It contains several themes that visualize the slide. You can also adjust the slide size and background to suit your needs.
The Slide Master feature, located on the View tab, controls the appearance of the entire presentation. Any logo, image, or text included in the master slide will appear on every slide, ensuring a consistent format throughout your presentation.
How To Add Title Slides In Powerpoint
New slides added to a presentation usually have a few text boxes for the title and content, where you can enter text directly. If you want to insert additional text boxes or start with a blank slide, you can go to the “Insert” tab, select “Text Box” and click where the text is placed on the slide.
You can format the text box and the text in it using the functions available on the “Format” tab. For example, you can change the fill and layout of the text box, or the font, color, and size of the text.
Note that when you select a text box, text formatting will be applied to all text inside it. If you want to change the format of several words or sentences, you must select the words you want to format instead of clicking on all the boxes.
It is generally recommended to use the same font throughout the presentation and use different font sizes and styles (bold or underline) to separate titles and subtitles from the content. This helps keep slide formats consistent.
How To Make A Great “any Questions” Final Powerpoint Slide (ppt)
The biggest advantage of PowerPoint presentations is the effective use of visual and textual information, which keeps the audience’s attention and facilitates better understanding. You can insert screenshots, images, tables, charts, and shapes into your slides.
Excel charts are one of the most commonly used formats for displaying data analysis results. You can create a chart in an Excel file and then copy and paste it into a PowerPoint presentation.
The user has several paste options, such as a PNG, JPEG, or GIF image, an Excel chart object, or a Microsoft Graph object. The image format does not allow further editing of the chart, which leads to additional steps if you need to change the data or chart later.
If you paste the content as a chart object, the chart appears as a fixed image, but includes a link to the embedded workbook. Double-clicking on a closed chart opens the Excel workbook in which the chart came from, so you can refer to the data or edit the chart in Excel.
How To Work With Slide Master In Powerpoint
By choosing the format of the graphic object, you can directly modify the pasted chart in PowerPoint, for example, by adding or removing chart elements, changing the text formats of the title and labels, or changing the color of lines and shapes. However, you cannot edit a direct data link in PowerPoint.
Similar to pasting Excel spreadsheets, you can paste a spreadsheet as a picture, or keep the table symbol but retain the formatting of the spreadsheet. The choice of closing format depends on your specific needs and personal preferences.
By following the instructions above, you can now create a decent presentation in PowerPoint, but you can add more color to it with the help of animation effects.
Adding transitions and animations makes PowerPoint presentations more engaging for your audience. Transitions are used when moving from one slide to another, and animations are used for text elements, shapes, images, etc.
