Ideas For Clay Art – It all started not too long ago, I was reading a book (Mindfulness Ideas for Artists by Georgina Hopper) which is one of my favorite books for artists, and I had a feminist urge to write this, to try a different art form this in my notes:

I slept on the idea for a while, and then I seriously started looking for ceramic workshops that I couldn’t find in my city.

This time I didn’t give up, I looked for an alternative, and then I found air-dried clay. A few days later, a close friend of mine (who is also a painter) posted a video of her clay sculpture and I was like bingo, this is what I need. So I asked her and she was kind enough to give me details on where to get supplies and all that jazz!

A few days later, after getting all the necessary supplies and watching every YouTube video that had the words air dry clay in the title, I was finally able to make my first attempt and I loved it!

It was such a therapeutic but exciting process, it really rekindled the love I had for crafts and DIY as a child.

This was my first air dry clay creation and I’m obsessed with how it looks completely unfinished (yes because it broke later :)).

That said, here’s a beginner’s POV on how you can get started with clay and enjoy it. I’ve also included a list of easy clay project ideas (with pictures) that you can try as a beginner.

Depending on the materials you are using to make your animal sculpture, you can use glazes, acrylic paints, water colors or even oil pastels to add color to the clay. If you’re not using glaze, you can also try different types of clear coats to get a different look.
