I love that they add a bit of character to the room, but let a ton of light into our kitchen.

Like I said, it’s a small room with only one long wall, so that’s the only place to put a sofa. Since this is the only wall I can hang any type of art on, I decided to create a gallery wall with vintage art.

Remember, I’m trying to be as budget-friendly as possible, and this is the best place to be. I’ve collected flea market and estate sale art over the years, so I’ve pulled out a few favorites. I have also found online domain publications that have been printed and framed in vintage frames.

I love shopping around my house and decorating the room with things I already have. Besides being budget-friendly, it’s a great way to use your favorite things in different ways.

The chapter moved with us from Florida to Illinois and now to two homes in North Carolina. It’s a little big for this room, but it’s a piece we love and we can’t justify buying a new one if we don’t use it every day.

I already mentioned the gallery wall art, but I also found a beautiful vintage wooden coffee table that fits perfectly in this small space. It was only $30.

Living Room & Dining Room

If you’ve been around Chatfield Court for a while, you’ll know that I’m no curtain girl. I’m a minimalist window dresser, and to be honest, I don’t want to clean the curtains.

The plan for this room was to hang my woven shades that I put away when I moved.

But after hanging them up and putting my room together, something struck me. It’s like something is missing.

I gave it a few weeks to see if the room would change, but the window wall still seemed unfinished. I knew in my gut that I had to close the curtains. My go-to drapes are two-ply, Liz Linen Drape Pleated.

I think my gut is right. Although simple, curtains add softness and finish to this side of the room.

I love how this room turned out. It’s my style and I enjoy the peaceful feeling when I come in and sit on the couch to take a break from the reno madness.

I can’t sit still for too long… too much. A small area next to the kitchen, the hallway and the new dressing room are all waiting their turn. On a budget of course!
