Today I am going to show you how to make a simple DIY flower birthday card. Nothing shows someone you care like a handmade birthday card. When that card is covered in adorable paper flowers, let’s just say, it’s almost guaranteed to put a smile on their face. That’s why I’m so obsessed with this easy DIY flower birthday card tutorial. Not only is this an easy and fun craft project to make, but the end result is a fun, personalized card that will make people feel special.
Many crafters invest in fancy paper cutters (let’s be honest: I have one too), but I have to say there’s something really special about a lo-fi craft punch. A paper craft punch is one of the most versatile tools a crafter can own. With just a few clicks, you can turn an ordinary piece of paper into a work of art. From delicate flowers to intricate shapes and designs, paper craft punches are quick and incredibly easy to use. And there are a variety of craft punch sizes, shapes and patterns to choose from, so there are lots of creative possibilities.

A paper craft hole punch is an essential tool that will take your projects to the next level. My kids gave me a floral craft feast set five years ago and I’ve used so many of them, no pun intended.
With a few simple materials, including colored cardstock, floral paper punches, and a glue stick, you can create a gorgeous bouquet of flowers to brighten up your birthday. Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or looking for a fun project, my handmade floral birthday card ideas will be a hit with your friends, sisters, mom, and grandma. So gather your craft supplies, put on your favorite playlist, and get ready to create a one-of-a-kind handmade birthday card that’s as unique as the person you’re making it for!
Fold a letter-sized piece of cardstock of any color in half. You can fold it in half, but scoring the paper with a utility knife is a trick you don’t want to miss. Lined paper allows you to create clean, crisp folds, giving your projects a professional look and feel. First, just use the ruler and the “back” of the utility knife, and run along the edge of the ruler to make a shallow cut along the fold line of the paper. Be sure to use a cutting mat to protect your work surface and be careful when using sharp tools. Watch my graded paper video to see how easy this simple technique is.
Draw the first letter of the recipient’s name on the front of the card. Write very lightly – you can erase the lines when you run out of cards.

Best move ever! Use a floral craft punch to punch a bouquet of flowers from cardstock. Use any color you like, but be sure to punch holes in the card stock as it is slightly thicker than regular printer weight paper and punch cleaner.
Use a 1/8-inch hole punch to add the flower center. I really recommend investing in a 1/8 inch hole punch because the smaller holes are cuter than a regular hole punch. In addition to delicate floral centerpieces, I also use them to hang happy birthday banners and make gift tags. Apply glue to the center of the flower. I like to use a craft knife as my backup hand; I use a craft knife to get the glue off the glue stick, then touch it to the center and stick it to the flower.
Use a glue stick to adhere the mini paper flowers to the painted letters. No need
