Ideas For Wrapping Paper Design – I’ve always really enjoyed gift wrapping, so now that wrapping paper has been added to my life skills, it’s a really exciting time. I tend to make excuses and stick to it during the holidays and it’s been like tree season so far.
I love the dark trees characteristic of Scandinavian Christmas design and luckily they are easy to draw. After doodling, I turned one of my hand-drawn trees into this wrapping paper, which I’ve partnered with Canon to share as a free download! That link is at the end of the post along with an easy entry gift for a Canon printer, take a breath! Stick around or go straight to the end and I totally get that you’re so excited you can’t wait.
Ideas For Wrapping Paper Design
To make the wrapping paper, I looked at my doodle paper (can you imagine O coming and giving his doodles?) and my PIXMA MG7720 wireless multifunction printer. Sikana has to be my favorite tool of the year because it did a great job of bringing my ideas to life, like I don’t know how to make folding paper with something I drew!
Custom Kiss Me I’m Irish Wrapping Paper (personalized)
I chose my favorite tree and created a model with it in Photoshop. This is a large 13×19″ paper that I printed on my Canon PIXMA iP8720 craft printer.
For the wrapping paper, I used a combination of strings, beads and grids, although my favorite is probably…
… this one. I think you already guessed it and maybe it’s your favorite too? I’ve learned that most of us can’t say no to small or trivial things. For small things like this, printing on letter size paper will always work! Just adjust the size when printing.

Wrapping Paper Storage Bag Pattern
I tried to make some changes and swaps where possible. this year I saw the waste of wrapping paper and it’s sad, because I LOVE and am passionate about gift wrapping – but the fact that you only use it once and throw it away is just a waste, so let it be the opposite of the green one. .
This year I decided to only use gift boxes and packaging that I already have. Inside, I bought a variety of kraft gift boxes that I can use over and over again, as well as tissue paper to fill them with. I have half sheets which are much better as normal sheets of paper are big pieces and always tear!!
I collect pretty ribbons and decorative gifts/accessories whenever I find them throughout the year, so I had plenty to use, but I also bought a few ribbons. This can also be used multiple times and I don’t think it even matters if it’s not the exact height of the recipient. who cares!!
Most of the toys we buy for Arlo are too big for gift boxes, so I had to wrap almost all of his gifts. using grocery bags as wrapping paper, simply cut all the way down the side and turn inside out. and for larger gifts I only use large shoe bags that I always carry on the go.
Personalized Gift Wrapping Paper From Minted
I also had lots of kraft and white wrapping paper from ordering gifts online so I had plenty of stock for all my gifts. most of them are quite wrinkled, which I thought of trying to iron somehow, but I decided with the perfect ribbon and a nice gift topper, you won’t even notice the wrinkles.
I used SEVERAL dried orange slices, cinnamon sticks, feathers and small pieces of cedar to decorate the gifts. I don’t think you could be overwhelmed with gifts, but that could just be me haha. (ps I tried freezing my orange slices but it didn’t work for me (my oven doesn’t cool enough!!) so I bought a big bag instead lol don’t judge)
I used mine for the gift tags (MUCH MORE ON THE BLOG), but my printer is currently out of ink, so I just used perforated wrapping paper in an effort to be less wasteful. punch. super simple! I also have these simple and beautiful stickers.
I hope this inspires your latest cover! Sorry for not posting this sooner, but if you’ve already wrapped your gifts, maybe you can come back next year for some great holiday gift wrapping that’s super easy. All you need is paper, paint and a “pattern”.
Christmas Gift Wrapping Tips And Printables
Mix acrylic paint and water in a plastic cup or small bowl. You can play with the texture by adding different amounts of water to the paint. A mixture of half paint and half water worked best for me.
Dip the mold in paint or paint the surface stamp with a brush and press it onto the paper.
Place the paper in a safe place to dry. I used recycled paper because it is easier to work with. You can use any size paper.
Are you busy? Of course, everyone is busy. If you don’t have time, you can download my free printable Christmas patterns.
How To Wrap Gifts Without Wrapping Paper!
Paint the top of the branch and the leaves. If you use too much paint, the pattern will be unclear and lose its original shape.
Carefully place the painted branch upside down on the wrapping paper (the painted part is opposite the wrapping paper) and press the top down with another piece of paper. Carefully remove the leaves and branches from the printed paper. That’s all.
Bend the metal, dip it in paint and press it onto the paper. Repeat as many times as necessary to get a complete pattern.
Cut the potatoes three times. Dip the potatoes in paint and press them onto the paper. Easy peasy.
Cricut® Diy Graphic Gift Wrap
If there is too much paint, the potato will slide off the paper, so don’t dip it into the paint.
For more complex shapes I used my pastry cutter. Just press it into the potato pulp and cut off the edges. It’s easier than you think. The top of the potato must be even, otherwise mistakes will appear on the paper.
Paint the potatoes in a thin layer with a brush from the center to the edges. With too much paint, the pattern has a different shape.
Always take the test on a different paper. With glitter paint I stamped 1st on the test paper and 2nd stamping then on the wrapping paper.
Diy Stamped Wrapping Paper
After a few steps, wipe the edges of the potato mold as the paint can stick there and create an outline around the shape.
Use your cookie cutter for gingerbread or Christmas cookies. I don’t have that, maybe I’ll buy more next year.
Send me photos of your wrapping paper and use the #hashtag. I can’t wait to see my results.
If you look closely at the pictures, you can see that I used paper to fold the envelope. Read about easy folding methods here and create your own envelope.
