Interior Design Ideas For Girls Bedroom – As Lexi got older, I wanted to create a space where she could escape, be creative, and spend time in her own space. I still love the bones of her “big girl room” but wanted to change things up a bit now that she’s out of her teenage years (she’s 6 and almost out of kindergarten!). So we changed the design of the room and replaced a lot of accent pieces. I used a lot of silver and mirrors in her nursery, but I knew I wanted her room to move in an organic direction. So we moved these pieces and replaced them with lots of wicker and rattan to bring in texture as well as some natural wood elements. We love the results! Let’s have a little adventure!
One thing we kept in her room was the beautiful red wallpaper. This is Daydream by Hygge and West. It adds such beautiful color and interest to the focal wall of your room. There are so many beautiful wallpaper options available now – the possibilities are endless!

For Lexi’s room, we chose to accent the room with wicker and rattan. The wicker lanterns were a lucky find for Home Goods! Repeating similar textures throughout the room can make the room feel more cohesive and cohesive. Other textural ideas for children’s rooms include pom poms, rugs and plush/textured pillows, metallic details such as brass or tinsel and stripes. (Want to see how we made that wooden ball mirror? Toddler Girl’s Pink Bedroom
In Lexi’s room we created a focal point above her bed with straw hats. They’re a sweet nod to childhood days spent exploring the great outdoors and add plenty of visual interest. Grouping similar items all together makes a good statement (think wet flowers, flower rings with dried or faux arrangements, decorative butterflies, etc.).
One good thing about decorating children’s rooms is that their cute toys can act as decorations. I love using custom toys to make a room feel whimsical and childlike. Display some cute dolls, use wooden toys as decorative items for decoration, and let things like blocks or stacking toys add a sculptural element. I also used the toys as decorations in our nursery for the kids >>
It’s fun to imagine kids’ rooms a little more than the rest of the house. Quirky details like the headboard over the bust or the little backpack that looks like a home make Lexi’s room feel magical and special. She even has a fairy door hidden in one corner!
Gallery walls are the perfect way to display meaningful art, photos and memories in a girl’s room. We include a custom silhouette of Lexi that we made at Disneyland, a canvas print of her newborn photo, and a tutu that she wore during special stages. Gallery walls can also be used to convey your color palette or decorating theme through artwork and wall decor.

Every room needs a vintage piece, big or small. In a little girl’s room, you can use vintage pieces to tell a story and add character and charm. Vintage children’s books, toys, rugs, and art prints are all good options. In our case, this serpentine dresser holds Lexi’s clothes, but also adds a lot of cuteness to her new room!
Start collecting all your girl’s favorite things…but in miniature! When I was a kid, one of my favorite things to do was collect little gifts for my display case. Little seashells, little ballerina figures, Mailleg mice, little dolls… there are so many possibilities! These small details make a room personal and attractive.
Kids love things that are the right size for them, so add a chair, bean bag, small table, or other place that belongs to them and fits them perfectly! In Lexi’s room, we brought in a kid-sized rocking chair, and it’s her favorite place to curl up with a good book.
We moved Lexi’s bed up against the wall to give her more space. It’s not my favorite design choice, but she’s much happier now and spends more time in her room because it’s more open and she can spread out. Think about the layout of your room and what will make the most of the space for your daughter.

For my daughter, I used a tray I already had on hand (like the one found HERE ) and made a mini parfait with strawberries and fresh blueberries. Of course she likes iced coffee (most teenage girls do) and I brought that too.
For the balloons I went with the colors of her room and different sizes. Isn’t it so much fun to float big balloons on the floor? And creating balloon wreaths to hang over her bed makes everyone so happy!
Tip: Place artificial greens in between the balloons in balloon wreaths (like I did with the lamb chops).
