If you’ve seen my stories on Instagram, you know we’re in the middle of several big renovation projects upstairs in our house. The biggest changes are in our master bedroom and master closets. Today I am sharing several Sophisticated Transitional Master Bedroom ideas that I have found in the process.

Our house was built in 1972 and is two stories with a basement. When we bought our house, we cleaned the main floor (except our sunroom) and our basement before we moved in. Then the upstairs bathrooms were completely redone (I’ll share them later…I’m already making changes…my poor husband!).

We couldn’t start on the upper rooms until all our windows were replaced. So, last summer, we did a major exterior, which included replacing all of our windows. You can see these plans HERE.

Replacing the windows caused a hurricane outside which included replacing all of our siding and roofing! It was a very long process, but it had to be done at once. I LOVE the 4 month old scaffolding around our house! NO!

When we moved, I didn’t rearrange the furniture in our room because we had to fix it first. So, the fun part! Are you with me?? Here are some of my favorite inspirations… you are sure to see the theme!!

Country Master Bedroom Vibe

In this first scene, I love the warm wood tones and how they soften the black and white palette. Our new windows are black and our new wood has the same natural finish. I love the dark word wall! I haven’t decided whether we will have it or not, but it is being considered.

This next bedroom is the bedroom of one of my favorite designers, Josh Young. His ability to combine modern images and accessories with vintage and antique pieces promotes such a beautiful, organized look. I feel lucky to own some of his artwork.

Shauna did such a great job of bringing it out and that is one of my goals for our new place. He lives here in Colorado with beautiful trees surrounding his property. Using the natural tones of the surrounding woods really makes one feel comfortable yet present day.

Robert Brown is another designer I like to follow. He has a natural ability to combine sculpture and architecture in a complex way. His intricate use of layers lends such beauty to this scene.

The eclectic nature of this style is very attractive. Combining unique shapes and colors balances out the neutral elements in the rest of the space. This is all so bold and I love it!

It has always been my belief that the master bedroom should be a place of peace. Nothing helps create that environment more than keeping a hidden space. This polished and clean look is very conducive to calmness and serenity.

The warm and cozy sounds on this bed are just screaming for me to jump in and stay put! Creating a relaxing space is my first goal.
