Journal Design Ideas Aesthetic Cover – Want to customize your magazine but don’t know how? Do you want to put a personal touch on your daily diary? Or are you tired of following one type of bullet journaling? Or do you want to add a little more spice to your journal? In this blog I’m going to talk about how I create posts in my bullet journal, but they’re not typical weekly posts, they’re just for me! Let’s get into it!
Hello! I’m Viv from @bujowmee on Instagram/YouTube, here I talk about different ways to fill your journal! This year I started making spreads like the one above in my journal and now I really enjoy making them! One thing I’ve learned from journaling like this is that there is no “right” way to journal. There are a lot of specific rules that people want you to follow, but honestly, it’s also good to get away from them. You can always learn your own style by taking inspiration from other journal accounts on Instagram/YouTube. In this blog, I want to tell you the different types of spreads I’ve created for my magazine so far! (: (P.S.: I’m almost done with my magazine, I’ve only been using it for 3 months!)

Before I begin, I want to tell you that the following spreads are examples of some of the spreads you can create in your magazine. You don’t have to follow it strictly or try only these spreads! Feel free to bring the ideas in your mind to life with your journal!
The first post I have is a highlights post! This is basically a lookup for the highlights when you last used the magazine. For me, I stick to at least six months before doing another set of highlights. For spread, I tend to include some big milestones with some memories I want to remember or don’t write about as much in my weekly journal. In the journal I’m currently using, I’ve included some memories of how I got my first job!
The next post I have is that many people are already making a post. This is a “note to self” post! This is basically a post you make in your journal where you write a note to yourself at the beginning of each journal. The letter can be anything, an expression of yourself, goals you want to achieve or a small reflection of who you want to be. I personally make this post every time I start a new journal because it’s a way to check how I’ve done with the goals I’ve set, and maybe add or change something else to my goals!

This next post is my first attempt at it, but now that I’m done with this journal, I might not include it in my next journal. It’s “When was the last time I was…?” Spread around my house where I mostly keep track of all my tasks like cleaning, laundry and some other chores. I thought I would use it every time I did my homework, but I stopped using it after I did :))
If you want to try, you can always do it for a little month!
The next one I have is one of my favorite spreads to do in my magazine! It’s a mood board and I recently created a blog about it last month! Feel free to come back to the blog for an in-depth explanation of what they are and how I make them! I love adding mood boards to my journal because they show my intentions and goals for the month! It’s another way to check how I’m doing with the goals I set at the beginning of the journal!
The next post I have is one I created based on my weekly diary! I usually use my weekly journals as a way to write about the day, whether it’s going right or wrong, and whether I’m having a good day. I tried to create this post as a way to keep track of my habits and the big tasks I’ve accomplished during the week! I especially spread this out beyond the first week of the year because I don’t have that many assignments to write. You can always use this as a post in your journal where you write about upcoming projects in the new week!

Next up for me is a rogue journaling pocket square! It really helped me to store my stuff in a little pocket in the magazine! The best thing about this spread is that I always know what’s in it because I flip it over to get my weekly papers. I use the back pocket of my magazine, but most of the time it gets neglected because I usually don’t remember what I put in it or forget it’s there in the first place.
This spread was fueled by the Instagram trend of searching for your name on Pinterest and adding “Core” to it! It was inspired by @handletteringings on Instagram. It was really fun making it, especially adding a little illustration to it because I could change it to whatever I wanted! I also want to start making posts like this in my friends’ names hehe (:
This may be a spread I will use consistently throughout all my months! My writing deadline spanned all my deadlines for assignments, projects, and more! It’s definitely useful as a student if you don’t use Google Calendar like me – but it’s also useful for keeping track of your plans at work. Of course, you can use your timeline for upcoming meetings or trips!
This is a new thing I tried for this magazine and it’s a self care page! I think journaling is a form of self-care, but I’m trying to find new things to add to my self-care routine. I thought I could use this post as a reflection and think of new things I could try for self care. It’s not finished yet, but I really like how it’s turned out so far!
My January Cover Page, My Favorite One This Year So Far
This is the spread I made for Valentine’s Day this year! It’s not complete yet, but honestly the quote page looks great too! It’s definitely low stakes, but I love how the characters turned out. If you have a favorite quote or want to write something in your journal, you can always try this type of post!
This spread is a variation of the “Junk Journaling Things” spread I made! This is my parade card and inspired by @/prettylittlellamas! This is definitely my favorite cover and it has all my favorite journal articles! If your back pocket is a little thick, you can use this as an extra folder in your journal! If you’re wondering how I did this, you can follow this tutorial by @/prettylittlellamas on YouTube! Below is an example of how I filled out the magazine cover for my magazine!
That’s all the spreads I tried this time in my diary! I hope you’ve found some posts you want to try or are inspired to try a new type of journaling! You can also follow @/jashicorrin’s journal list for 52 weeks, I’ve included the link here! Download the printable here because it’s like a checklist of every spread I’ve ever made!
There are many different layouts you can try in your journal and I hope you find the ideas in this blog post useful; I hope you are excited to create an aesthetic for yourself and your magazine! You can tag me, @bujowmee, @, @munity, #AOShare and # in your posts related to this blog on Instagram. We can’t wait to see what you create! (:
