In the rest of this post, I explain how we made the three light fixtures and where you can buy the lights and accessories we used. I hope that by sharing our Diwali lighting ideas, you will be inspired to create outdoor lighting for your home.
Our Diwali lighting ideas, so we decided the first step for our home is to install LED lights in the backyard. We thought lighting around our yard would be a good idea to accentuate the property. We installed twelve 48 foot long Feit Electric strip lights around the yard. It took Akhil (my husband) a few tries to figure out how to hang these long lasting lights. It is easier to apply on small spots, but it is stronger in the long run.
It used a threaded cable for a snug fit between the contact points. This cable is held in place with wall mounting hooks, lugs, cable ties and cable ties at both ends. String lights are supported by this wire rope and secured to it with ties or wire ropes. Achilles used a pulley at one end with a rope running through it to lighten the rope. Our kids pulled on the rope at his command as he tied each branch to the rope. Then it just slides all over the point.
You can find the materials needed for this hack on Amazon, String Light Kits. Once Akhil understands the concept, we buy parts from local hardware stores. It takes four weeks to install twelve lights for our Diwali celebration.

After Akhil finished placing the lanterns in our yard, he moved on to the next idea for our home Diwali lighting project, which was to light the trees with lights. To cover the trunks of the giant trees, he used 12 GE StayBright 8′ by 6′ grid lights. He chose string lights instead of traditional Christmas lights for the base of pines and other tall trees because this type of lighting makes Christmas trees look better.
Akhil used custom LED Christmas lights to wrap the trunk and branches of our Sioux Crape Myrtle tree. These trees have larger branches and thinner trunks than tall pines; Holiday lights are easy to wrap around these trees. Overall, all the lights created a beautiful atmosphere for our Diwali event and helped to illuminate the dark areas of the background.
The second project for our home is to create a special Diwali candle decoration for food displays and buffet tables, so one of my favorite ideas is to create a colorful and beautiful atmosphere that I hope will delight our guests while they eat. In order to make a backyard, I had to re-plan the territory and move my daughter’s swing to the neighbors’ yard (with their permission). After clearing the area, we placed four 12-foot long wooden posts 10 feet apart near the corner of the fence to create an L-shaped structure.
Next, we tied “black vinyl covered cable” to one wooden post next to another to hang the fabric from. I used colored tulle fabric to make the tulle curtains to add the desired color and accentuate the shape even more. I reused the tulle fabric I got from the Holi party decorations. We then added Twinkle Star 300 LED window curtain lights on the back of the tulle to illuminate the fabric. We used ten screen lights for 60 feet of lighting for the background. The tulle backlit with lights made for a lovely design and our guests thought it would be a great addition to our Diwali celebration.
I also added faux marigold beads, white jasmine flowers, and fabric strips that I got from India through Etsy sellers. Celebrating Diwali is not complete without these flowers and decorations.
The candle decoration ideas that we worked hard on to celebrate Diwali in our home are worth the effort! Our kids love how our backs shine, and they enjoy helping us shine ours. Our guests enjoyed our festive light decorations and we are proud to share the traditions of our Diwali culture with loved ones and friends.

And I think the best way to create different scenes is to use different heads to think about them. So I went to my favorite makeup artist and asked them for help. Festivals are a time to go out and celebrate with people, so I can’t say that. This is what I thought when I started blogging 2 years ago. I was very happy to learn that I was very wrong.
