Living Room Ideas For Decorating
When we moved in, this place didn’t have everything right. It’s just a little box with no personality. The advantages are large windows that let in a lot of light and wooden floors.

The minuses are the old floor heating and the chandelier that we walked into every time we passed through the room.
This 10×10 room is off our little space, in the front of the house. We are sure that the previous, and only, owners used this as their dining room. We don’t need another dining area so it will serve as a sitting/living area for now.
The first project I tackled in this room was removing the chandelier and two central heaters. We didn’t need a heater, and they were just ugly, so I got rid of them and repaired all the holes and damaged walls.
I also removed the old thermostat and filled that hole, along with all the other parts and screws.

Next is the sealing of all the siding and windows (problems with the old house), and then it’s on to the coating of the siding.
By this point in the project I was ready to put some paint on the wall. First I rolled several layers of white paint on the ceiling. What a difference!
The trim also got a few coats of the same paint I used in the cabin, Behr Polar Bear mixed in BM Advance.
Finally, it’s time to paint the walls. I used this house to experiment with different glosses, which is white in a matte finish. The walls in this house have a lot of imperfections, so I was hoping that the matte finish would tone them down.

The color I chose for this room is BM White Dove in matte color. I’ve used White Dove on cuts before and always liked it, so I’m back to it again.
I can’t believe how much this white color brightens up the room. It was painted a neutral gray which was…ok. The soft ones really do make a big difference.
I tried to add a little character to every room I renovated in this 1965 apartment, and on a budget. The entrance area gets new doors and fun wallpapers. The breakfast nook has a bead board.
This room will be framed, a picture frame to be clear. It was my first time doing this project, but it was really easy to make. Finding the numbers to space the boxes turned out to be the hardest part of the whole project.
Decorating A Long Narrow Living Room · Chatfield Court
Originally I was going to do the whole room, so it was 2 walls. In the end I just chose 1 wall, the couch wall. I think it’s the right choice because it’s the first thing you see when you enter the room. I love what he did for this place.
In my original idea for the living room, I wanted some kind of metal door for the main door between the kitchen and the living room. After a bit of research and price comparison, I decided to look for a more economical option. I was at the steel and glass sliding door.
I wanted something a little more modern than a barn door. When I saw the glass and metal doors, I knew they would fit well with the feel I was looking for in this room.
I love that they add a bit of character to the room, but still let tons of light into our kitchen.
Spring Decor Ideas Around The House
Like I said, this is a small room with only one long wall so it’s just a place to put a chair. Since it’s the only wall I can hang art on, I decided to do a vintage art wall.
Remember, I try to save money when I can and this is the best place. I’ve been collecting pictures from flea markets and art auctions for years, so I pulled out a few favorites. I also found some public records online that I printed out and made into vintage frames.
I love shopping my home and decorating rooms with things I already have. Besides saving money, it’s a great way to put things you love to use in different ways.
The others moved with us from Florida to Illinois and now to two homes in North Carolina. It’s a little big for this room, but it’s one of our favorites and I can’t justify buying a new one when we don’t use this room every day.

The chair in one corner of the room and the cabinet in the other are both long pieces that were used in several houses.
Since I mostly decorated the living room with furniture and decor that I already had, this allowed me to buy metal and glass doors and a few small decorations.
As I get older, I get more involved in decorating with sales and marketing. Not only can it be a budget option for decorating (in general), I love that I can find unique products to match my design.
I already mentioned the beautiful wall art, but I also found a beautiful vintage coffee table that fits this small space perfectly. And only $30.
Living Room Decor Ideas With The Home Depot
If you’ve been around Chatfield Court for a while then you’ll know that I’m not a pretty girl. I’m more of a minimalist when it comes to window dressing, and to be honest, I don’t need to wash fabric.
The plan for this room is to hang the woven back curtains that I put up when we moved in.
But after I hung them back up and put my room together, something happened to me. As if something is missing.
I gave it a few weeks to see if it was just a change in the room, but the window wall still looked unfinished. I knew in my heart that I had to hang the curtain. The curtains I went with are from Two Pages, Liz Linen Drape Pleated.

I think I’m right. Although simple, curtains add softness and finishing to the side of the room.
I’m happy with how this room turned out. It’s my real model and I find myself going in to escape the frenzied reno and just sitting on the sofa to enjoy the peace I have when I’m here.
I can’t sit still for long though… too much work. A small space next to the kitchen, a living room and a new wardrobe await their turn. About the budget of course!

How To Decorate Your Living Room With Kids In Mind: Family Friendly Decor
When we moved into our new house five years ago, I was grateful for the large living room in our house. But it also presents a challenge, because we will see it all day, every day. I want it to be both beautiful and functional, but I don’t know how to organize all the empty spaces! Additionally, our TV and media console needs to be front and center, which is a design issue. After years of working on this unit, I just achieved some of my long time goals!
Here are some pictures of our room this spring. I have worked on this site for many years and I have a lot of love! But I still work.
I’m a newbie when it comes to DIY home projects that involve electrical equipment. However, after seeing many friends install their own wall moldings, I wanted to give it a try. I decided on picture frames because it is a classic style and easy to install.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing a detailed look at how I installed the wall moldings, but I wanted to list the things I used in case you’re ready to tackle this project! Home Depot has everything I need
