Mobile Art Design Ideas – As mobile phones often hang on a basket, it is the first piece of art that many people see. But creating a mobile DIY artist craft is a fun project for kids of all ages and a creative activity for a day out, party or summer evening. It’s a fun and unexpected way to learn about artists or visit each of our inner artists and recycle any cardboard or paper boxes you may have around the house. Once you have finished your mobile phone, it is a great DIY gift that parents, grandparents, friends and art lovers can use as a mobile device or wall hanging.
The basic idea of this phone is to make colored cardboard into a string attached to a stick or dowel, which you can then hang as a decorative piece. We make ours using colored paper glued to a box cut from a recycled granola bar, but there are lots of things you can do.

If you plan to hang your finished artwork against the wall like we did, only decorate one side. If you hang it from the ceiling where both sides are visible, the other side is also visible, so you might want to decorate it, paint it or cover it with paper.
A great way to start your phone is to choose an artist you admire, see their work and be inspired by their graphics or colors.
There are “art classes” in a group, choose the same artist and see how everyone interprets it differently.
Organize a “Gallery Debate”: Gather the child’s friends or parents and ask each phone manufacturer to choose a different artist and present their artwork and the artist who inspired it. By the way, everyone in the group learned about different arts.

Set up a display: Give your finished project as a gift or as a decorative gift to a hospital or doctor’s office
For our wall hanging inspiration, we have chosen the daring work of Joan Miró, especially Ciphers and Constellation in Love with a Woman, now at the Art Institute of Chicago. Calder, Jackson Pollock, and Picasso are other popular children’s artists whose work lends itself to phones. There are so many wonderful possibilities! If you’re creating a Miró-Inspired Art Mobile like us, you can start by downloading a printable template of its body shape. Scroll down for how to
Step 1: Download the Miró-Inspired mobile model, print and cut out. You can print the shape on white paper to use as a template or print it directly on colored paper to skip a step.
Step 2: Draw the pattern on colored cardboard and place it on a flat box or another cardboard box. Cut out.

Step 4: Cut the wire into several strips of different lengths; We went for six 9.5-inch to 12-inch pieces each, but you can change to create any design you want!
Step 5: Take a piece of cardboard, add the string and attach it to the table with equal spacing. (Our distance is about 3.5 inches.)
Step 6: Cut two wires of equal length to hang the phone. Tie one end of each string to the end of the stick, then tie the other two ends together. Now you’re ready to hang your Miro-inspired phone! If you buy something from the link on this page we may receive a commission. Why trust us?
