Hi, I’m Laura, a passionate baby crafter with two little ones of my own to keep me entertained! I’ve been doing kids crafts since 2018! Easy Crafts for Kids has seasonal crafts for all ages, as well as drawing lessons, coloring pages, and other fun printables!

It was so easy!!! I didn’t have a push pin (don’t even know what it is) but still managed to do it. A very good birthday present

Wonderful wonderful ideas! Thanks so much for the post!! We’re always looking for cute things to do with the kids 👍❤️I think the best crafts teach too. Of course, I think every craft has something to teach our kids, but this one is a little more academic than most. It’s an interactive way to teach shapes, colors and sizes. And then we just add a little imagination to this amazing fun with shape artwork!

Of course, this art form only requires a few basic supplies. Honestly, if you had nothing more than printer paper and crayons, you could make a version of this project. Not all crafts on this site are so simple. Ultimately, I want to challenge your kids and encourage their creativity. But you will find that EVERY craft here is made from the same list of crafts and is for kids (not adults). This is very thoughtful as it blesses my heart to see you all building together as families. I hope this method makes it THAT EASY!

This is a great craft for learning shape names, colors and size differences. It’s also good for practicing those scissor skills because we’re just cutting out very simple shapes. So when you do this craft with your child, include a little education. (Caution: but be careful not to take over the project. Still, let them create and use their imagination!)

There are all kinds of tips I could give here on how to learn how to use scissors, but I’ll give you one for now. One of the biggest mistakes kids make when transitioning from just cutting paper to cutting out real shapes is rushing it. To help your child get organized, try chanting a mantra while cutting. Start it before you even start cutting, even opening and closing the scissors to the beat of the song. It should go something like this…take…your…time…cut…along…the…line. And he said very one thing, slowly, rhythmically.

One more thing: if you’re working with a child who’s learning to cut out basic shapes, outline the lines they’ve drawn with a marker to make them easier to cut. And if your little one is just learning how to open and close scissors, cutting things like sunflowers or grass is a great warm-up for more mature scissor use. Let them try! After all, what’s the worst that can happen… you just have to cut another shape. Children learn best by trying and even failing, getting better and better each time they try again.
