Room Wall Paint Design Ideas With Tape

Room Wall Paint Design Ideas With Tape – If you’ve seen pictures of the interior of our home, then you’ll know that we love beautiful designs and bright colors. In fact, there is only one bedroom and a downstairs bedroom that use neutral colors.

Gradually, we became more and more fun with our DIY projects over the years. Combined with my skills and Lee’s vision, we found ourselves as a home decorating team.

When we first bought our house in 2018, we decided to try something different in the living room; Big, bold, turquoise diamonds – what’s the worst that can happen, right? If it looks like garbage, we just paint it.

The flow of it is very different (as you can guess) and therefore each room will be braver, and more curious.

The goal is to use some old paint that we have lying around (paint is very expensive!) and what was first started as a simple idea (paint the wall dark blue), eventually become something more beautiful and terrifying.

The first thing we did was decorate the wall with a white coat. There were a bunch of old signs and bad paint on the wall that we didn’t want to show so we gave it two coats of white while we worked on planning how it would look.

I actually use Canva to help with this because it’s easier and faster than drawing by hand. We also tested the color layout; Are we going to something random, or something more?

Now that we know what we’re doing, it’s just a case of tapping the wall. This is often the most difficult because it needs to be as possible, especially if you work with geometric shapes.

I did the horizontal lines before putting the framework. Unfortunately, building these walls is often like a mathematical equation. We need to measure the length of the wall and divide it by some number of lines (while placing the tape in the middle) to get the length.

Once we have the line in place, it’s a case of determining the height/width of the triangle. It’s a little math and some guesswork. Finally, I made a template out of paper with dimensions to help me draw the wall (especially so I could get the right angles).

It’s just a case of measuring, marking and marking each side of the triangle on each line (which takes hours!)

As we decided to go with the pattern, it was very important that I painted the triangle. If you only use two colors, it’s straight forward – you paint everything else. But there are three colors I have to deal with here!

So I wrote B in pencil on the blue triangle and marked the ones that would be white with a little tape.

Top tips: before you start painting, make sure you brush all the tape to make sure it is stuck to the wall properly, otherwise it will have small leaks.

It is used as a case of painting all colors. I started with the blue, did a few coats before moving on to the silver.

How To Make Unique Designs With Painter’s Tape

We saw the metal where we left the brush on the wall, which would look messy if they were not all going in the same direction. That’s why the money triangle uses about our coat with the effort to make each pen is smooth, even and to the same beauty.

I believe that not all metals work this way, so the goal we will be able to do.

Now, you need to remove the tape while the paint is still wet. Sounds counterinitiative, I know. However, if you wait for the walls to dry completely, there is a higher risk of paint damage.

I usually leave it on for about half an hour to an hour and then remove the tape and it’s the most satisfying thing in the world. Suddenly, all these clean lines started to appear and it looks amazing!

9 Wall Painting Ideas To Transform Any Room Into A Work Of Art

Sure, you’ll see all the mistakes; like where the paint bleeds because the tape isn’t sealed well enough. But that can be solved.

There is always a touch. A day or so later, once the wall is 100% dry, I go back with a small brush and touch up any pieces that need to.

The hallway is my favorite wall so far, although I like everything we’ve done for different reasons.

Girls Room Renovation

I have so many projects bouncing around in my head that I don’t have enough days to do them all.

Some of them are done like ombre hexagon wall or blue and gray herringbone wall or diamond painted floor in the meditation room or one of these works here.

What I explained to my husband and his eyes lit up and his brain started working and the lights went out and he turned to me and said…

The first thing we do is decide the size of our cube and what we want the cube to look like.

I knew I didn’t want the cube to match everything.  To create the 3-d look of the cube, I knew I wanted the top to be smaller—like a diamond.  The small space at the top creates the illusion of the cubes seeming to jump out of the wall.

We chose a starting point and then measured and re-marked points 9 inches apart in a vertical line under the wall. Next, we measure 15 inches to the right and make the same mark on the wall. Next, we measure from one of these points to the ceiling and move to the right 7 ½” and make marks on the wall exactly 4½” below the previous marks. We continue the pattern throughout the wall.  Finally, we ‘connect the dots’ with pencil lines and then close the ‘top’ of each cube.

You’ll want to use a level when measuring, to make sure your lines don’t start to “drift.”

I want to create the idea that the light comes from the right, so we arrange the colors in the cube.

(full aside: This is Sherwin-Williams’ color of the year. You can see other work I’ve done with it here.)

After the second coat is dry, we remove the tape and prepare the next layer of DIY cube wall.

It is important to seal the edges of the cube on the outside before you paint to make sure that the entire side of the cube is painted.  If you don’t close the lines outside the edge of the oven, it won’t look good.

Remove the last layer of tape and check if you need to touch up anywhere.

We weren’t quite ready to renovate the basement so I decided to add a few things to improve the mess!

Make sure the area you are going to paint is clean and free of debris. Depending on the color you choose, priming the wall will be necessary. In my case I have already painted the wall a light gray, and the door has matte black and decided to keep this color as the background.

If you’re not going to keep the existing wall color as your color for this project, go ahead and paint the wall with the color you chose. It makes sense to use your favorite colors throughout the most geometric shapes. Dry overnight.

Using masking tape (I personally had good luck with ScotchBlue Painters tape but used whatever I had at home for this project) begin to place your geometric pattern on your wall. Make sure your tape is flat on the wall with no ridges showing on the sides. This will make the line smooth when removing the paint. I am absolutely right
