In the living room, the brown striped wallpaper for an accent wall was already quite dated.
Even my client’s husband initially thought that open shelves would be enough. But after living in their condo for a few years, they quickly discovered that the open shelves required regular maintenance; otherwise, it would just look messy.
They also had a brown recliner that my client wanted to replace. She was looking for a sofa that would fit the whole family, but still look sophisticated and timeless enough to keep up with the ever-changing interior trends.

In the living room there was originally a small children’s table where the children could play or study, but they often found that the table was thrown away to have more hanging space.
The poor waterproofing of the condom promoter led to the deterioration of the living room walls, which were covered with wall-to-wall curtains (purchased from a thrift store). While the developer solved the problem of water getting into the walls, I told the client that they need to check that the inside of the walls are not covered in mold. That would definitely be a health concern for them.
Also note that the air conditioning installer didn’t even bother to hide the ducts in the walls. They thought they couldn’t do that because the apartment walls were made of thick concrete.

My client also specified a white wall, and while we previously looked at wallpaper options to keep the budget down, he ultimately decided to go with the real thing, even if it meant a longer renovation time.
The colors I chose were on the cool neutral side. The interior of her previous home was warm and brown, and I wanted to get away from that heat this time.
I incorporated warm tones through wood finishes and black and brass metal accents. As for accent colors, my client just used teal (Boysen’s Space Encounters).

My client bought the frame herself, and put it on her husband. Let’s just say it’s a home project he won’t be repeating anytime soon haha.
We kept the design, we didn’t move the electricity and TV sockets. But we removed the brown striped wallpaper and installed white bricks from EZ Rocks. The brick wall added just the right amount of texture and visual interest to the room, without overwhelming the wall like a dark wallpaper.
I added more lights because the previous special light did not provide enough light in the unit at night. My client decided not to install a ceiling to cover the wiring, but we worked around that by covering the dirty ceiling and stucco and wiring with PVC. It’s not ideal, but for budgeting, or if your building management doesn’t allow ceiling work, it’s a good enough alternative.
I replaced the old curtains with plumber curtains that my regular curtain maker had somehow torn. This made it easier for my clients to open and close the curtains as the day went on, as it could dim the light in the evening.

To repair the damaged wall and exposed air ducts, I had my contractor fabricate a new wall to cover it. We only sacrificed a few places for it, but it was worth it.
