The downsides are the old baseboard heaters and the chandelier that we pass every time we pass the room.
This 10×10 room is right off our small front entrance. We are sure the previous and only owners used it as their dining space. We don’t need another dining area so it’s sitting/living room for now.
The first project I did in this room was to remove the chandelier and both baseboard heaters. We didn’t need the heaters and they were just ugly, so I took them out and fixed all the holes and damaged walls.
I also removed the old thermostat and filled that hole as well as all the other holes and nail holes.

Molding, or more precisely, picture frames, are being prepared for this room. This is my first time doing a project like this, but it was really easy to do. Figuring out the math of the space between the boxes was the hardest part of the whole project.

In the original living room plan, I wanted some kind of metal door for the large openings between the kitchen and the living room. After doing some research and comparing prices, I decided to look for a cheaper option. I sat by the sliding steel and glass door.

Like I said, it’s a small room with only one long wall, so it’s the only place for the sofa. Since this is the only wall I can say has any art, I decided to create a gallery wall with vintage art.
Note that I try to budget as much as possible and this is a great place to be. I’ve been collecting flea market and estate sale art for years, so I pulled out a few favorites. I also found some public domain prints online that I printed and framed in vintage frames.

The older I get, the more I find myself drawn to decorating with thrift and estate sales. Not only can it be a cost-effective decorating option (usually), I also love that I can find unique, well-made pieces that match my design style.
I already mentioned the thrifty wall art gallery, but I also found a beautiful vintage wooden coffee table that was perfect for this small space. And it’s only $30.

The plan for this room is to re-hang the woven shades I put up when we moved in.
But after I hung them up and organized the room, I felt something. Something seems to be missing.
I gave it a few weeks to see if it was just a change, but the window wall still looks unfinished. I knew I had to hang the curtains. The curtains I used were two pages, Liz Linen Drape Pleated.
