Every Diwali, I try to create excitement in the children with all the decorations, lights and fireworks. Now they look forward to it every year. Do your best when your busy schedule doesn’t allow you time to implement all the ideas presented here. Nothing is better than nothing. I am sharing some ideas that you can use to decorate your home full of Diwali decorations or decorate your home.
Diwali is the festival of lights. Outdoor decorative lighting is my husband’s responsibility and it really attracts everyone around. The pictures don’t do the effort justice, but the overall effect of the lighting was stunning.
He used professional installers for the ceiling lights, which cost about $500. He could do the rest of the lighting himself, as he could safely reach it with a standard home ladder. They used programmable LED strip lights for traffic lanes and roundabouts around the light. He decided to go with LED lights for tree posts, house posts and large plants. A continuous LED beam light was used to create a pyramid around the lamppost.
The kids loved helping with the Diwali decorations and made it a family project. The high school student gave his ideas and manipulated the sticks while handing the tools to his father on the stairs to light the wire.

Make sure you use the correct GFCI protected circuits to power your lights and protect against electrical hazards when installing lights.
In Indian tradition, the main door has a special significance. Many Indian traditions involve decorating and performing various ceremonies at home or at the entrance of the pooja room. It also applies to Diwali decorations.
During my last visit to India. These are some of the typical things I get from India every time I visit. Diya means a clay lamp used in the Indian subcontinent. These days, you can buy decorative bees from Indian stores in almost every major city in the United States. If you don’t have time to visit your local store, they are also available on Amazon.
After much research, I decided to use artificial flowers found on Amazon. I was pleased with the overall quality, feel and appearance of the flowers. I also used fresh flowers from my garden and local grocery store. The lights were purchased from Pier1 Imports.
Elegant Valentine’s Day Table Decorations
You can make rangoli with two colors and flowers. Since I have a baby, powder colors didn’t seem like a good idea. So I went with a simple design that can be quickly made in 10-15 minutes with a mix of natural and faux flowers.
Have you seen rangoli before? A brass vase for holding candles and floating flowers, the Urli adds a unique dimension to any festive or ethnic decor. With floating candles and flowers, it adds dynamism to your static decor.
After all, it is the first door that visitors to your home see. It creates a first impression and an expectation to see if there is anything else. To get yourself into the holiday spirit, you need to reflect the festive atmosphere of your home. The decor of the file presented here uses a central Ganesh idol walking on a medallion table surrounded by ornaments consisting of bronze work and tea lamp candle holders.
I used my existing vases as tea light candles, which are inexpensive and a great way to add an Indian touch to your decor. I have a large garden collection, so I borrowed some tea lights to decorate here.

He gifted us an idol of Ganesh. Here I have used brass plates as urlis. You don’t have to buy them or use a brass vase to add urlis as a decorative piece. You can use any of the above background glasses to create the same effect.
In the above picture, I have used kundan rangolis to decorate the floor. Alternatively, you can use the Rangoli design as shown below. In my case, it only lasted a few hours with a running baby.
Inside the house, you can add small decorations in different places to change the look and feel of your house and make it look more festive. For example, I enhanced the coffee table in my living room with candles and flowers.
You can easily see that I am a huge fan of Pier1 Imports. Most of the items in this decor are from that store. Whether you’re looking for tableware or tableware and candles, everything from Pier1 Imports is curated over time. I keep rotating them around the house to create new decorations using different combinations.

It has a good collection of shoes and accessories. They are my weakness. So, when I find a piece of good design, I buy it for future use. A range provides a defined space and a center of interest that allows you to focus on a limited space. Runners add another texture to a space and help bring color contrast and enhance other decor elements. I also used kundan rangolis as filling in the middle of the place to give it an ethnic touch.
Another example is the fireplace mantel, which is the centerpiece of the living room in an American home. You can create a beautiful ethnic decoration by placing some pieces on the fireplace and the space in front of the fireplace.
Here, I have used a combination of three independent elements to create diversity with the overall aim of representing the various ethnic elements of India. I used two beautifully carved elephant heads along with nettipattam and bronze musical instrument artefacts. During my visit to Kerala, I fell in love with the beautiful Nettipattam elephant heads and couldn’t resist adding them to my collection. I love the fact that it adds to the space where it is used.
It is a collection of diyas, kunda rangolis, carefully selected flower beds and fresh flowers and a creative centerpiece that anyone can easily assemble from a photo. Pearls & Twigs Shimmer Placemat and Glitz Beaded Silver Placemat are both available at Pier1 Imports.

The last but the most important place to decorate your home on the occasion of Diwali is the pooja room and temple. Laxmi pooja is the most important part of the entire Diwali festival which is performed in the poja room of the temple. Due to the nature of my husband’s work, my family moves every few years. So even though I want to have a separate pooja room, I have to share it with the office then.
So I use a handmade Rajasthani wooden temple with a matching background. This background uses tulle fabric embellished with peacock feathers, bandhanwar and pearl threads. The end of the tulle was tied with brass elephant rings. This setup adds pooja angle.
The entrance to my pooja room, which I share with my home office, is also decorated with bandhanwar and flowers. Try adding small details like sathya stickers and maha-laxmi prints. The swastika is associated with Ganesha, while the maha-Lakmi traces are associated with the goddess of wealth and prosperity. These small details greatly increase the impact of your decor.
