Traditional Formal Living Room Decorating Ideas

Traditional Formal Living Room Decorating Ideas – We love our new house and are slowly making it our home, one room at a time. If you haven’t been following along, we bought a Cape Cod style home earlier this year and are updating it. So far I’ve shared the boys room, dining room, and family room, and today I’m sharing the formal living room.

One of the things that appealed to me most about our new home was the traditional floor plan. While I appreciate the open concept, I’m drawn to the idea of separate rooms, especially now that we have little ones. It’s nice to have a place for family time and play, as well as a quiet place to work or a more elegant place to entertain. The formal living room is my “nice room” where I don’t have to worry about toy storage or baby proofing (mostly). I kept it very traditional, but added a lot of personality with fun colors and patterns.

Christmas Home Tour Part 2

My favorite piece, and the inspiration behind this room, is the vintage sofa. Covered in a stunning Chinese silk slipcover in soft shades of green and pink, it creates a beautiful focal point for the room. I complimented it with gold leaf accents like the Uttermost coffee table with a mirror top for a touch of elegance. Uttermost is one of my favorite sources for home decor and I am always impressed with their quality and reasonable prices. Thank you so much for offering this table to appear on today’s tour!

I went with a neutral woven sisal rug with a geometric pattern from Safavieh. The structured details blend perfectly with the space, while not being too busy on the side of the sofa. My friends at Safavieh were kind enough to send me the rug to include in the design.

I’m a fan of sun mirrors. They are so timeless and add instant glamor to a room. This beautiful Eicholtz mirror is no longer available, but I’ve rounded up some similar options below for you to browse!

The walls, ceiling and decorations are painted alabaster by Sherwin Williams. I wanted to keep the paint neutral so that the colors in the tapestries and tapestries took center stage. The white walls really opened up the space and gave it the light and bright look I was looking for.

Plug-in wall lamps are an easy alternative when there is no ceiling lighting. These Visual Comfort brass lamps are timeless and perfectly balanced with the sun mirror.

Various models keep the space playful. The pleated buffalo check table skirt is from Ballards and the pink geometric pillows were a steal at Overstock. I had fun stepping out of my usual comfort zone and mixing different prints.

These dupioni silk curtains by Ballards are EVERYTHING. I can’t get enough of them! The soft spa green shade pairs beautifully with the sofa and creates a soft contrast with the rose pink.

The coffee table flower arrangement consists of an English rose and a brass tag I found on Facebook Marketplace. I rounded up some of my favorite design books by Suzanne Kasler and Alexa Hampton. And no coffee table is complete without a sweet smelling candle.

To begin with, the client was given two concepts, each in the traditional style of the home he loves. However, he decided to reconfigure his house first with the expertise of architect Inga Oren. Because of his generous interior design budget, he was able to change the structure of the first floor and open up the difficult layout. When the client was ready to furnish the interior of their home, interior designer Tijana Z completed the usual proposals for renovating the dining room and living room.

Tijana chose a light color palette to lighten up the once dark design of the living room and dining room. To bring even more light into the room, the designer suggested white, beige and metallic furniture. White and metallic surfaces reflect light, multiplying the effect. These include white seating, navy accent chairs, curtains and pillows. Keeping in mind the client’s penchant for intricate design, Tijana also included French Rococo-inspired dining chairs, a detailed coffee table, and a curved bench.

As you pass through the arched doors and enter the foyer, you are greeted with a grand living room to the left and a lavish traditional dining room and kitchen to the right. Both areas have sunken ceilings, but the section above the dining room is particularly 18th century.

Century greatness The open kitchen and dining area feel bright thanks to the white cabinets, egg walls, downlights and two chandeliers that highlight the kitchen island and dining table.

As part of the final design package, 3D rendering provides clients with a visual representation of the finished interior. Here, an 8-seater table with a marble top and pearl white chairs sets the scene for formal dining. But their rococo design brings a light and almost whimsical element to the room. And finally, an opulent chandelier balances the curves of the table, while blue velvet curtains balance the gold details.

Premier Precision Photography captured the traditional style of the home in stark clarity. The finished project is bright, lush and balanced. Curves contrast with straight lines, while metals and soft creams come to life in combination with deep blue. Above all, the photos tell an interior design success story.

After remodeling the living room, the interior is open and inviting, a far cry from the dark and practical space that existed before. Now, generous seating, lush greenery and unique decor fill the room, creating an elegant yet warm and welcoming interior. Thanks to the reconfiguration, the new design certainly makes the living room bigger and more pleasant.

A living room renovation wouldn’t be complete without the finishing touches. Likewise, lighting can make a difference, even turning what was once austere into something attractive. Previously, closed rooms had little sunlight and insufficient artificial light. Fortunately, by layering light, the designer was able to mimic the glow of a sunny day. Chandeliers and table lamps not only provide more light, but also provide visual depth with their height. Finally, to soften the formality of the interior, large neutral and blue cushions adorn the white leather seats.

The living room renovation left a symmetrical and formal living room that includes a period fireplace. Also, for added visual impact, two dark gray chairs sit on either side of the fireplace, breaking up the white mantle and wall panels. Also, the white Chesterfield sofa and loveseats ensure they don’t fade into the surroundings.
