Tree Layout Ideas Animal Crossing – Imagine this: You visit Isabelle at Resident Services and ask her to appraise your island. His little thought bubble pops up, and says you currently have a 4 star rating! what?? How?? You think, “I did what you said!” Or maybe, “I had a 5 star rating!”

If this is you, and you feel like you can’t do more to improve your island, then you’ve definitely come to the right place. Fear not, because I’ll help you check out all the essential features of a 5-star island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Technically it uses a scale of points to develop islands and scenery. Your grade depends on how much you put into the items in a particular category, but grading involves too much thought (and math) for me and probably for you. So, here’s a simpler version with simpler assumptions:

At first glance, this list may seem overwhelming. But don’t worry! It seems much easier, and you can still achieve it without losing your organized island. Here’s how.

Some people’s first instinct when they see how many trees they need to reach a 5 star rating is to go around their island and plant trees anywhere and everywhere in all the empty spaces. But this only leads to more work later when you want to maintain your island and make it more cohesive. So how do you stay organized when you plant all the plants you need?

Make a garden! Apart from choosing what type of plants you want in your garden, it requires very little planning. Depending on how much space you want to take up, your garden can be as big or as small as you like.

Personally, I chose to create a plot with one row per fruit and 10 columns of each fruit (plot 5 × 10). So I got a large supply of non-native fruit that I could pick in bulk every three days and collect lots of bales. And, I made it really pretty by placing 50 fruit trees in a neat plot of dirt pattern that is equally cohesive and separate from the rest of the island.

Of course, you can also use other types of plants you have available, such as pine trees and bamboo, to create different ecosystems on your island, such as a zen garden or forest. This can help a lot in increasing your total number.

So, it’s really easy to have 50 pieces of fencing when you start building. But while it’s common to get tunnel vision on how to use your fence on the island, the first idea is to enclose a large area with a single fence.

Don’t fall prey to these bulky and space-eating ideas! Use different types of fencing around your island to give different areas personality. You can do this by creating courtyards around your villagers’ houses, creating small gardening areas, or improving the spaces you’ve already created.

Even though your island is already decorated with one type of flower, getting all species is beneficial for both your ranking and your Nook Miles achievement.

If you’re like me, you want at least one of every flower in every color. But keeping it looking good and trying to organize and maintain it is a hassle. I tried a few different ways to arrange my flowers around the island, but my favorite was creating a rainbow garden.

This allowed me to create a section small enough to keep from going over my entire island and still have a nice area to display all the different flowers.

Personally, the theme of my island is based on nature and cottagecore, so I have a section or two where flowers completely cover the mountains to cover what you find in the wild. Once I got my 5 star rating, I let my lily of the valley flowers grow randomly to capture that feeling.

One of the hardest things for me to complete on my 5 star journey was setting up my ramp. At the time, it cost me many hours and the pressure to keep it in perfect place was at an all-time high.

But I’m here to tell you, the most important aspect of ramp placement (at least for me) is how you’re going to use them. Will your ramps be specifically designed to go up or down to the next level? Are they just a fun feature that adds character to the area? How easily can you maneuver them to get from point A to point B?

Once you figure this out, don’t be afraid to put ramps next to each other! You can do this by placing ramps between three cliffs and using them to create a fun path to run up and down. Here’s an example of my island where my ramps double as an easy path from my campsite to my hidden beach and a fun trail.

Just like ramps, bridges can be overwhelming to find the perfect place to sit on your island. However, there is also a limiting factor when placing them, as you must have some sort of water source to place them.

Try to have fun with your bridge in both design and placement when thinking about how to use it. You can build a small pond and install a stilt bridge to create a small water feature in a park or garden. Or, you can build a bridge lost in a forest.

Here’s my take on a few different designs. Like I said before, I love my cottage core vibe, so my personal style is definitely more “wilderness explorer” than “city dweller”.

Depending on how long the game is, this can be a challenge. But assuming you have plenty of DIY materials and paper, here are a few different ways you can keep your island from feeling cluttered but still use plenty of furniture to decorate it.

It’s a great way to put a lot of stuff in a small space without being too much. And there are many designs you can choose: cafe, park, camp, beach, garden, etc.

Really great about giving you lots of outdoor equipment to decorate your island. Although I didn’t originally plan on it, I created a huge garden and pumpkin patch area complete with a water fountain, garden storage, a wheelbarrow and a few other things. This is a great way to grow fruit or vegetables when you need a lot of vines quickly.

I struggled with planning this for weeks, but after several redesigns, I finally came up with a small area where my villagers could sit by the pool. Right next to it, I have a sand volleyball court to complete the summer camp aesthetic with lots of activities.

, it is essential to buy a variety of large and small items to decorate your island. That doesn’t mean you have to buy what you see. Keep in mind the types of areas you want to build on your island and keep an eye out for them at Nook’s Cranny or Nook Stop at Resident Services.

As above, you must have an idea of what to do with said furniture once you finally get it. A really great idea to follow is to match your villagers’ yards to their personalities. You can do this by adding a few trees or bushes, a bench and a small table with a coffee cup or other small objects.

Whether or not you have a theme for your island or even just your home, adding furniture around your home can really make it feel more complete. Personally, I wasn’t sure what to do with my house, so I added a few things here and there until it looked like a real house to me.

A lesser known feature to keep or get your island 5 stars is to make sure all your furniture, plants and flowers are not together. The game calculates your island by looking at 8×8 sections (so 64 total squares), and if you have more than 45 objects in that space, it will likely lower your rating.

So don’t forget to spread out the different areas of your island and make small spaces out of large open areas. If you still feel like something is missing in a certain place, ask yourself what you would add to the real world to simplify or complete it.
