Unique Decorating Ideas For Living Room
When we moved in, there wasn’t much space. It was just a little square box with no shape. Pros are large windows and hardwood floors, lots of light.

The downside was the old tile heater and chandelier that appeared every time we walked through the room.
This 10×10 room is located directly in front of the small entrance at the front of the house. We believe the previous and only owner used it as a dining area. We don’t need another dining area so now it will serve as a sitting/living area.
The first thing I did in this room was get rid of the chandelier and base heater. We didn’t need the heaters, they were just ugly, so I took them out and fixed all the holes and broken walls.
I also removed the old thermostat and filled that hole and all the other holes and nails.

Next is filling in all the trim and windows (a problem with old houses), then the trim.
At this stage of the project I was ready to put some paint on the walls. First, I rolled two coats of light white paint on the ceiling. What a difference this made!
This trim took a few coats of the same color used on the rest of the house, Behr Polar Bear, mixed in BM Advance.
Finally, it’s time to paint the walls. I tried different glosses with this house, such as a soft white with a matte sheen. The walls of this house have a lot of imperfections, so I wanted a matte finish to minimize them.

The paint color I chose for this room is matte BM White Dove. I’ve used White Dove in decorations before and I’ve always liked it so I chose it again.
I couldn’t believe how this soft white lit up the entire room. It was painted a medium gray…okay. Soft white really makes a big difference.
I tried to add a little personality to each room of this simple 1965 ranch and stay within budget. The entrance has a new door and interesting wallpaper. There is a blackboard in the breakfast nook.
In this room, I’m going to print a picture frame. This was my first time doing a project like this and it was very easy to do. Finding the math to calculate the spacing between the boxes was the hardest part of the entire project.

In fact, I was going to do the entire room, but ended up with just two walls. In the end I settled on just one wall and the sofa wall. I think it was the right choice because it’s the first thing you see when you walk into the room. I love what you did for this space.
In my original living room plan, I wanted to make a large metal door between the kitchen and living room. After some research and price comparisons, I decided to look for a more economical alternative. I sat on the sliding steel and glass door.
I wanted something a little more modern than the typical barn door. When I saw the glass and steel door, I knew it would fit the feel of the room I was entering.
I love that they add a bit of character to the room while also letting a lot of light into our kitchen.
Fall Living Room Decor Ideas That Save Money And Time
As I said, it’s a small room with only one long wall, so there’s only room for a couch. Since this was the only wall I could hang art on, I decided to decorate the gallery wall with vintage art.
I try to stick to a budget and remember this is the best place to be. I’ve collected art from flea markets and estate sales over the years, so I’ve picked out a few favorites. I also found some public domain prints online which I printed and mounted in vintage frames.
I love shopping around the house and decorating my rooms with what I have. In addition to being affordable, it’s a great way to use something you love in a different way.
They moved with us from Florida to Illinois and now to two houses in North Carolina. It’s a little big for the room, but it’s our favorite part and if we didn’t use it every day, there would be no reason for us to buy a new one.
Surprising Items To Decorate With
The chair in one corner of the room and the dresser in the other are long-time favorites that have been used in several of our homes.
I mainly decorated the living room with existing furniture and decorations, which allowed me to purchase steel and glass doors as well as some small decorative pieces.
As I get older, I enjoy decorating more and more with thrift and estate sale finds. Not only is it an affordable decor option, but I love finding unique, well-made pieces that (usually) fit my design style.
I’ve already mentioned the thrifty art gallery, but I found a gorgeous wooden coffee table that would be perfect for this small space. And it’s only $30.

If you’ve spent any time at Chatfield Court, you’ll know that I’m not a curtains kind of girl. I’m the most minimalist window dresser and to be honest, I don’t want to clean the curtains.
The plan for this room is to rehang the woven curtains that were installed when we moved in.
But once I hung them back up and put the room back together, something struck me. It seems like something is missing.
I spent a few weeks trying to see if I needed to change rooms, but the window wall was still unfinished. I knew I needed to hang some curtains inside. The curtains I chose were two page, Liz Linen pleated curtains.
